In addition to
Version Exclusive Pokemon that can and cannot be found in one version to the next, there are certain other aspects of
Pokemon Sword & Shield that are different between the two games. The first is seen in the Gym Leader you will face in each game, where you will challenge the Fighting Type Gym Leader
Bea in
Stow-on-Side and the Rock Type Gym Leader
Gordie in
Circhester within
Pokemon Sword while facing the
Ghost Type Gym Leader
Allister in Stow-on-Side and the Ice Type Gym Leader
Melony in Circhester within
Pokemon Shield.
Additionally, certain Items and Fossils are exclusive to one game to the next. The
Rusted Sword, Tart Apple, Bob's Food Tin, Fossilized Bird, and Fossilized Dino can only be found naturally in
Pokemon Sword; the
Rusted Shield, Sweet Apple, Bach's Food Tin, Fossilized
Fish, and Fossilized Drake can only be found naturally in
Pokemon Shield. However, these items can be traded between one game to the other, and the
Digging Duo (the Items Focused Brother) can actually help trainers obtain all Fossils no matter the game you're playing. Furthermore, the Reward
TRs you receive from
Max Raid Battles are different between the two games.
