What Is Restricted Sparring?

Thank you for printing this page from to come back to check for updates to this guide and much more content for Pokemon Sword and Shield

After defeating the Isle of Armor Story, players will earn the Master Dojo Feature of Restricted Sparring. This type of specified battling allows players to challenge various Single Battles, but it comes with a twist: You can only use three different Pokemon of the same type. From there, the goal is simple: complete five battles with the team you chose. However, the damage your Pokemon received and the Move PP they used carry over from one match to the next. You will be able to heal your Pokemon, but you will only be able to do so twice over the five battles. Of course, the battles get harder the further you go. One you defeat the five battles, you will get a completion note for that type of Pokemon.

Each time you win a battle in the Restricted Sparring, you will earn 3 Battle Points. Should you complete the goal of each type and reach five wins, you will receive an additional 30 battle Points. You will also receive 30 Battle Points the first time you win each type of Restricted Sparring! By clearing five battles in all 18 Pokemon Types, you will receive a very special T-Shirt Item based on the Dojo Master himself, Mustard.
