Holiday Treasures milestones and how to get more pickaxes

The new Jingle Joy season kicks off in fine form with a dig event on the first day! Holdiay Treasures on Monopoly Go brings you 20 levels of digging fun where you can win over 5,000 free dice rolls, five sticker packs, including one purple one, which will guarantee you one five star card, a new board token and a new shield skin.

This is a great opporutnity to kick start the new season by playing this event and getting some of these rewards. This guide to Holiday Treasures will show you what you can win in each level, let you know all the places you can get more pickaxes to play this event and give you own own top tips and strategy to make sure you are not wasting any digging chances.

Holdiay Treasures starts with the new season at 12 PM ET on December 5th and runs for just over four days until 3 PM ET on December 9th.

When this event end, the new banner event, Mistletoe Magic, and tournament, Stocking Spree, will start. We also think a new Peg-E event will start too.

How to get more pickaxes for Holiday Treasures

The most pickaxes that you'll get come from events, we always list the current and forthcoming events on our daily events schedule. Apart form events you can also pick up more free pickaxes from the daily Quick Wins and eight hourly shop gift with the dig event is running.

We've listed the events that have pickaxes here:

• Spreading the Joy (until 10 AM ET Dec 7th)
• Tinsel Tug (until 1PM ET Dec 6th)
• Jingle Jam (from 1PM ET Dec 6th until Dec 1 PM ET Dec 8th)
• Cane Delights (from 10 AM ET Dec 7th)
• Milky Mixers (from 1 PM ET Dec 8th)

Use these pickaxes to dig for treasure in the event, uncover everything in a level to win the reward and move onto the next one.

Holiday Treasures has 20 levels for you to dig through, each one will give you different rewards which are listed below. Look out for the levels with the special items:

• Level 10 - Scottie Wreath shield skin
• Level 17 - Merry Mobile board token
• Level 20 - Purple sticker pack

How to win the Merry Mobile board token and Scottie Wreath shield skin

To win these two special items, you just have to complete the corresponding level from the table above where you can find those rewards located. So for example, complete level 10 to get the Scottie Wreath shield skin, and complete level 17 to get the Merry Mobile board token.

While these special items don't give you any special benefits in the game, this particular board token, is probably one of the best looking ones we've seen in the game so far, so many players will definitely be trying to bag this one.

Here are the screenshots from all 20 levels of this event, to help you work out more or less how many pickaces you'll think you'll need for each level. Remember that all objects are located in different positions anyway, so knowing where mine were located would not help.

How many Pickaxes will I need to Finish Holiday Treasures?

Although the number you need will depend on your luck or skill at uncovering the treasures, based on previous experience my estimation is that you'll need something like 350-400 pickaxes to have a shot at completing all 20 levels in Holiday Treasures. There are many ways to get these over the four and a bit days of the event.

All the ways to get more pickaxes in more detail

There are various ways to easily get pickaxes in Holiday Treasures, here is a complete rundown.

1. Solo banner events

   There are the events that you see advertised in the game in the top center of the screen. During dig events there will usually be a couple of the solo events to take part in and many milestones with pickaxes as rewards.

   You can find out which solo banner event is currently running and get a complete rewards list for it by heading over to our daily events schedule and finding a link to the current solo banner event.

   Usually, the solo banner events are the BEST way to get the bulk of the pickaxes that you need to complete this Holiday Treasures event.

2. Tournaments

   Tournaments are the other events that happen at the same time. These are listed on the right of the game screen and will rewards you for completing either Shutdown or Bank Heist when you land on a Railroad tile.

   These tournaments also have milestones, and when digging events such as Holiday Treasures are running you'll be able get some pickaxes within the milestone rewards for the tournament.

   You will also be able to find details of today's tournament plus a link to the milestone rewards where you can see how far you need to play the tournament to get more pickaxes over on our daily events schedule. Tournaments are the second best way to get pickaxes in Monopoly go

3. Quick Wins

   You can access Quick Wins via the 'WIN' tab at the bottom of the game screen, while there are special events running, you will usually get the event item (Pickaxes) as one of the rewards for each Quick Win you complete. You don't get as many as you do with sole milestone events and tournaments, but you can get a useful amount of pickaxes from Quick Wins, especially if you complete all three of them every day of Holiday Treasures.

4. Shop gift

   Every eight hours you can collect a free gift from the shop. You can normally find this by going to the shop in the game and then swiping the top block to the left about five times until you get to the end. There will either be a free gift waiting for you which will normally include pickaxes while digging events are running, or a timer telling you when to come back to collect your free gift.

5. By completing Holiday Treasures levels

   Some of the levels include free pickaxes as part of the rewards, look out for these in the rewards and milestones list in the table above,

Those are the only five ways to get free pickaxes in Monopoly Go in order from top to bottom.

Are there any Holiday Treasures pickaxe links?

Normally, there are no free pickaxe links. If we spot any however, you'll be able to find them on our free dice links page, which is a page we update every day with the latest free dice links to get you some extra free rolls in the game. These links are distributed by Scopely, and all are tested by us before we publish them on our website to make sure that they work and are legitimate links.

Holiday Treasures event tips and strategy

We've been playing all of the similar digging events in Monopoly such as Moonlight Treasures and Galactic Treasures, so have had the time to work out the best ways to give you the best chance to complete this event, here's what we've got.

• Check the milestone lists of events and tournaments

  It's really important to check the milestones list of the solo milestone event and tournament that is running at the same time as Holiday Treasures, you can do this by heading to our daily events schedule to get a link to the current events to view their rewards and milestones list. This allows you to work out how far you should go in each of the events before it starts to get too difficult for you to get pickaxes. Having a plan by looking at these rewards lists can be really helpful. Remember to check the start and end dates for these events because usually you can have two or three tournaments which last for one day each, and only one solo milestone event which may last two or three days, so you may want to plan to stagger progress in the solo event and spread over the two or three tournaments that run over that time.

• Don't waste your guesses

  Pay attention to the sizes of the items that you need to find in the game and only click on locations on the board that the remaining items will actually fit. Some boards, depending on the size of the obect to be found will just require one logical guess in order to pinpoint it's location.

• Use the Checkerboard technique

  If you are unsure where to start with your guesses, one suggestion is to use the checkerboard technique, so you leave a gap of one square between guesses, like a checkerboard. Some items that you need to find however are 1x1 so that technique won't work to find those!

• Things can be rotated

  Remember that the items that you need to find can be rotated horizontally or vertically.

• The moles will help

  The moles are great at helping you save some digs, there is no good way to find them, so just try to get lucky.
