Gringotts Racers Monopoly Go

It's back on our broomsticks again as the Harry Potter Go season on Monopoly Go continues off with Gringotts Racers, which begins at around 12 PM ET on January 21, 2026.

UPDATE: 12:30 PM ET Jan 22 - If Gringotts Racers just disappeared for you in Monopoly Go, then I suggest restarting your app, as it seems to be back in play now. There as an error, but it looks like it has been resolved now.

This event is run over four days, with the first 24 hours or so being allocated to finding your team and then the next three days allocated to three separate races, as in previous Tycoon Racer events on Monopoly Go. The whole event will wrap up at around 3 PM ET on January 25.

During this initial 24 hour period before the first race begins is the time to decide on tactics for your team, whether you'll go hard in the first race or hold back and wait for the second. Also decide on how active you want to try to be in the race, so all of your team is on the same page, either aiming for a particular position or just playing to grab some lap milestone rewards. It definitely gives you a better chance if you are able to communicate in some way with your race team, our Monopoly Go Facebook Group is a great place to both look for a race team and also to communicate with them during the race event.

It's also the time to start collecting flags for the races, which can you start doing as soon as the new events start at the same time as the racer event. You can check our daily events schedule to see details about this event and which milestones you have to reach to win flags.

On offer for winning the championship this time around is a both a wild sticker and swap pack as well as the eerie Voldemort board token, which is an item I'm sure a lot of people will be pushing to win. Remember that to win the championship, you have to have the most medals over the course of the three races and that the final race gives double medals.

As well as championship rewards, there are plenty of rewards to be won as you and your team complete laps and pick up the lap milestone reward chests. Loads of different things can be found in those including race buffs, stickers, flash events and dice.

Read this guide for a complete list of all rewards that you can win in this event, details on how to various boosts and our top tips to challenge for the championship and bag those first place rewards.

If you want to try to make the most of your dice with a plan that still gets you a decent haul of rewards without using too many dice, check out our guide on why Monopoly Go's Tycoon Racer isn't a dice trap.

In Tycoon Racer events you also have the option to Play Solo. This means that instead of playing with a team of four you will be on your own against three other competitors, also solo players. The game play and strategies will still be the same but you will only depend on your own efforts. For Solo play the rewards you can get will be different from the team game.

Boosts in Gringotts Racers

We won't know which boosts are available in this version of Tycoon Racers until the racer event stars, but here is a recap of all of the boosts that we've seen in different racer events so you know what they do if they are available in this one.

Lucky Rockets or Broom Boost

Lucky Rockets sometimes appear in Tycoon Racer events. These can be won in some lap milestones in the racer event. Check out this page, Lucky Rocket strategy for our best tips on how to use this valuable boost. Be sure not to waste any Lucky Rockets as using these efficiently can be the difference between winning a losing races.

In Gringotts Racers we have Broom Boost instead of Lucky Rockets and also the dice roll is limited to rolling 4,5 or 6 only, this gives you a much higher chance of rolling a double or a treble.

One thing to remember is that Lucky Rockets, or Broom Boosts, do not stack, which means that once you have one unlocked and showing next to your profile name, you and the rest of your team should use this boost before another is unlocked.

This is really tricky, and any team that is able to communicate will be at a significant advantage when it comes to using this boost.

Ball and Chain

This allows you to choose a competitor to add a brake to which will reduce the score of any rolls made by 50% for a few rolls until they break it. Use this to hold back any other team that is trying to get away from you. See the complete Ball and Chain guide for more details.

Team Spring

Unlock the Team Spring from some of the chests that you get from milestones in the races. Unlike rockets, Team Springs can stack, so feel free to grabas many as you can. How it works is that once you have unlocked a Team Spring, you and your team mates (or just you if you are going solo) charge the spring as you move around the racer track.

Once the Team Spring is fully charged, you can then get one free hit of the dice popper and you'll get a random multiplier applied to that free go. Each member of your team gets this boost once the Team Spring is fully charged.

Then when you've used your free pop, if you have more Team Springs waiting to get used, your team can begin to charge the next one.

Gringotts Racers rewards

There are loads of rewards that can be won in Gringotts Racers, but the one everyone will be shooting for is the first prize in the championship. This is determined by how many medals your team has won at the end. Medals are given for your teams placing at the end of a race, and there are three races in total in this event. One per day with the final race being for double medals.

You can elect to race solo, just tap the 'I want to play solo' button at the bottom of the Gringotts Racers event page and then confirm that option. However, I'd really recommend just playing as part of a team, even if it is with players you don't know and the rewards are better anf there is likely more potential to scoop up more lap milestone rewards too.

Apart from end of event rewards, there are also loads of milestone rewards that can be won as you and your team complete laps. As you play through races and complete laps, after a certain number of laps your team will unlock milestone rewards where you'll be given a series of rewards to select from which include sticker packs, dice, flags and more.

Lap rewards are given out after lap one, after two more laps, after five more laps, and after ten more laps, with the rewards getting increasingly better as you get further. The rewards continue with another reward after every 10 laps. For each of the lap rewards you'll be given a choice of rewards to pick from, flags are usually there, if you need some more for your team.

How to play Gringotts Racers or Tycoon Racers

If you choose to play in a team to get the top rewards then you need to team up with three other players. You can select these before the races start or you can also wait and get randomly assigned teammates.

Whether part of a team or playing solo you then need to collect flags and compete against three other teams/players with the aim to get the most points and win the race. The event is split into four stages as follows:

  • Team-up Stage

In this initial stage you have 24 hours to get into a team. Further down there is a more in/depth explanation of how to build your team in Gringotts Racers, but basically it is similar to other partner events where you can send invites and they can be sent to you. The biggest difference is that if someone you want to play with is already a part of a team, then if you want to play with that person, you'll also be playing with their team mates too. The other big difference is that you can leave a team too, but only before the start of the first race. You cannot boot a person from a team though.

Text explaining that you can leave your team and find another
    You can leave your team

You'll also be able to start collecting flags which is the event item that you'll need to score points in this event. More on this below.

  • Matchmaking Stage

At this point you just have to and wait for the matchmaking process to complete. Your team will be matched up with other teams of more or less a similar skill level. The game will consider everyone's net worth in the game and will match based on that to try to make it as fair as possible.

  • Race Stage

Next we reach the race stage. For the remainder of the tournament there is a new race every day. There will be three races in total, one per day, with the most important one being the final race because it will yield double medals, which will be important for you team's final placement in the championship.

It's at this point you can start to use the flags you've collected so far, you'll still be able to collect more flags as the event continues, we explain all the ways to get flags in detail further down the page. To get started in the race stage, hit the event icon, then choose your multiplier and start rolling for event points.

The points you get will drive your car around the course. Complete laps and the race as a team to win rewards which could include; sticker packs, dice, flags, flash boosts or money.

To get started in this part of the event, choose your multiplier then hit the big dice popper. You'll move your car according to the number of dice that you threw, multiplied by the multiplier and also increased if you throw a double or a triple.

The points you get determine how far your car moves, complete laps and you'll get those lap milestone rewards whenever you team car completed 1,2,5 and 10 laps. Your team only has one car so all of your points work together to get through the laps and the race.

At the end of each race your team gets medals depending on your team's classification at the end of each race. Medals go towards your medal points total at the end of the event to decide which team gets which final reward.

Screenshot showing lap reward boxes that can be opened
    Lap Rewards

Medals are distributed to the teams as follows:

    Races 1 and 2

    Race Position Team Reward
    1st 10 medals
    2nd 8 medals
    3rd 5 medals
    4th 3 medals

    Race 3

    Race Position Team Reward
    1st 20 medals
    2nd 16 medals
    3rd 10 medals
    4th 6 medals

In the final race of a championship, medal rewards are doubled, so do make sure you save a lot of flags for that last race.

  • Championship Stage

After all of the races have been completed, the team with the most medals at the end wins a grand prize.

How to build your team in Gringotts Racers

Joining a team or selecting partners is a bit different in Gringotts Racers than in previous partner events.

Once the event starts you have a certain period to get yourself into a team before the racing starts. For this event the team building phase is for the first 25 hours of the event. Here is a bullet list of all the steps you need to take to get into a team in Gringotts Racers.

  • To get started click in the Team Up button on the right side of the game screen.
  • Tap on one of the empty avatar circles in the middle of the game screen that has the green plus icon in it.
  • Here you can now send invites to players and approve or deny requests that have been made to you.
  • You can also use the search bar at the bottom of the screen to look for individual players in your friends list.
  • As you scroll from the suggested team ups and invites, you may see some avatars on their own or in groups of two or three players. One action, dismiss, invite, join etc... will apply to everyone in that group. So if a friend that you want to play with already has one or two team mates, you'll be joining those team mates too!
  • If you make a mistake and want to leave a group, tap the red leave icon that is in the bottom right of your avatar.
  • If you can't find a group by the end of the team building phase or your team does not have four players you will either be assigned to a team or a random players will be assigned to you..

How to get more flags

Although the actual races start a little later, there is a lot of ground work to be done if you want to help your team land that first prize in the championship. When the event starts, the team building phase, you'll notice flags on the Monopoly Go game board, you've got to collect these, much as you would collect pickaxes in digging events or other special tokens for partner events. You'll also be able to get flags in some events, as explained below.

Here are all the ways how to get more flags in Gringotts Racers on Monopoly Go. Little is known for sure about how teams are matched, but one rumor is that the game considers how many flags your team has before the start of the first race. So if that turns out to be true it may be best to wait to collect flags from tournaments and events until just after the first race starts. This will give you two hours to collect like a maniac before the first tournament ends... Usually! Do check the times for each racer event though as this may change.

  • Collect flags on the board - Just roll your dice and if you land on the flags you'll win some.
  • Tournaments - Running alongside Gringotts Racers will be a banner event and tournament. Head to our daily events schedule and visit the links to the milestone lists for these event to see how many points you need to get enough flags to race with..
  • Quick Wins - While Gringotts Racers in active, the Quick Wins rewards will include flags.
  • Shop gift - Every eight hours you can collect a free gift from the shop. Tap the Shop icon from the three lines at the top of the game screen, then swipe the top block to the left until you get to the final screen. Your free gift will be there, which will include flags if Gringotts Racers is still running, or you'll see a countdown timer telling you when to come back.
  • Tycoon Club - Collect the daily rewards from the Shop and Benefits pages of the Tycoon Club to get a chance of more race flags while the event is on.
  • Lap completion milestones - As you complete a certain number of laps in a race you'll reach lap completion milestones, at that point you'll be given some reward options. You may get flags as an reward option.
  • Free flag links - I'll just mention this as it is always a possibility that free flag links will drop. If there are any, you can be sure to find them on our free dice links page. Although at this stage we have no way of knowing if you'll be able to get free flags with links.

So while you are building your team, don't forget to collect as many flags as you can to help your team out.

Race tactics and strategy

Communication is the key in an racer event, so if you know who your partners are and can communicate with them, then your team is already at an advantage. Communicating is important when deciding which race to push harder on or to just settle for a lower position and also when to use boosts so there is less waste.

You'll have to be on your toes up until the end of the race, because after seeing how the first race turned out, there was a mad dash to the finish line in our group. So pay attention to the end of race times and save some flags to defend your position or to shoot for that finish line to try to come in first place.

Pressure your opposing teams and don't let them get an easy win so you can deplete their flags so they may not have as many for the next race.

Remember that it is double medal rewards for the final race. So it could still be all to play for in your respective groups. Watch out for teams that hoard their dice until the final hour or minutes of a race then let rip to come to try to come first.

One strategy to use could be to win the first race, then go very light on the second race and then save a ton of flags for the final race and get those double points.

Another very effective strategy is to just collect flags hard as a team in the 24 hours before the race starts and during the first race. Then in the final hour, if you think you can win it, use your flags to capture first place in the first race. This technique can catch other teams off guard and you may well capture the win more easily than if you show your hand as it were too soon in the race. This also means that it's likely that the team in second and third place may have spent too many flags just to get second or third, leaving them with some tough decisions to make in the second race.

Tycoon Racers FAQS

Here are some frequently asked questions about Tycoon Racers, feel free to drop a comment below if you have any other questions about this event and we'll do our best to find an answer.

  • How to team up with other players?

Tap on the green plus icons, just like in other partner events, you'll then be shown the add player page which will contain suggested partners, any invited partners requests you've made or received, and a friend search bar so you can find specific friends to send an invite too.

  • Can I leave my team?

Yes, but only during the team building phase. You can then go try to find another team before the start of the race, or you will be assigned a random team before the race starts if you don't find a team yourself.

  • How to score points in Tycoon Racers?

Similar to previous partner events, you have to collect the event token, in this case flags. Then use then in the event. To do this, tap on the event icon on the right of the game board, then select the multiplier on the dice popper and then tap the popper to spin some dice. You'll need a minimum of 20 flags to roll the popper.

  • How to win a race?

You simply win the race by scoring the most points as a team. Your final placing then determines how many medals you receive.

  • How many races are there?

In previous versions of Tycoon Racers there have been two or three races. I expect that seeing as this is a four day event, we'll get three races.

  • What are medals for?

The medals convert to points in the championship. The team with the most points from medals at the end of all the races determine which championship reward the team receives.

  • Do I get rewards for completing laps?

After a certain number of laps you can receive rewards. There are in the form of reward boxes where you will be given a number of reward choices to select from. Similar to milestones in previous partner events, when you reach a certain number of laps you'll get rewards until the race is completed.

  • What rewards can I get from completing laps?

There are a range of different possible rewards such as boosts, dice, cash, flags and sticker packs.

  • What happens to unused flags at the end of the event?

Unused flags are normally converted to game cash.
