This hunting ground is the most challenging and will require you to at least clear the RHO and Zeta Cauldrons if you’re aiming to get the Blazing Suns for its trials. The keeper is kind of a douche too.

Ravager vs Machines Trial

  • Remove the ravager cannon and use it to kill two machines
  • (Or) Override the ravager and have it kill two machines.

Blazing Sun 2:00
Full Sun 4:00
Half-Sun 20:00

You have to use the Ravager’s cannon to kill other machines, including itself. You can easily shoot off the component using a tearblast arrow or using the tearblast weapon. Alternatively, you can override the Ravager and have it kill two enemies (most likely watchers). You have to clear the RHO Cauldron first to get the ability to override Ravagers.

Thunderjaw vs Ravager Trial

  • Remove a Thunderjaw Disc Launcher to kill two ravagers
  • (or) Override the thunderjaw and have it kill the two ravagers

Blazing Sun 2:00
Full Sun 2:30
Half-Sun 20:00

You have to knock off the Thunderjaw’s Disc Launcher by using Tearblast arrows and use that weapon to kill Ravagers. Unfortunately, even after dislodging the Disc Launchers, the Thunderjaw will still be able to attack you. Since the Disc Launcher is a heavy weapon, you won’t be able to dodge, making it a challenge to evade attacks and even reach the Ravagers.

Another alternative is to complete the Zeta cauldron which will unlock the ability to override Thunderjaws. Before overriding the only Thunderjaw in the hunting grounds, you may want to take out the watchers so that the Thunderjaw can only focus on the Ravagers. When the it engages the Ravagers, you can help by attacking the Ravagers and lowering their HP but make sure you’re not the one killing the ravagers. The thunderjaw must land the finishing blow or the trial will fail. Take note that the thunderjaw doesn’t necessarily need to finish off the ravagers with its disc launcher; as long as it kills the ravagers using any means (even stomping them) will count. Tying them down with the shadow ropecaster will help a lot as well. Blasting off their cannons will disable their ranged attack and force them to engage you and your thunderjaw at melee range, which will make things a lot easier.

Now take note that Override doesn’t last long unless you have Combat Override +. If you don’t have that skill, it will be harder to achieve the Blazing Sun time limit because the Thunderjaw might break free from your override. As long as you ensure that you don’t attack the thunderjaw, the override will remain active longer and indefinitely (if you have the skill)

Ravager Control Trial

  • Override ravagers and kill the Thunderjaw

Blazing Sun 2:00
Full Sun 2:30
Half-Sun 20:00

Requires you to have the ability to override Ravagers before you can accept this challenge. That said, you have to clear the RHO Cauldron first before you can take this trial. This is probably the hardest hunting ground trial. Basically, you have to override the two Ravagers located on different sides of the hunting ground and make them help you take down the Thunderjaw. Overriding the two ravagers as fast as you can will be quite a challenge since you either have to be hidden before you can override them or tie them down if they ever detect you. Even after successfully controlling the ravagers, you’ll still have to deal with the time limit if you’re aiming for a Blazing Sun.

The fastest way to do this is by overriding the lone ravager on the right side of the screen then using tearblast arrows on the Thunderjaw’s disc launchers to remove them and get its attention. Take cover and take out the watchers when you can so that when the other ravager arrives, you can tie it down with your rope launcher. At this point, it will be better if your overridden ravager is already engaging the thunderjaw. Once the hostile ravager has been tied down, override it, then continue dislodging the thunderjaw’s parts, preferably the disc launchers and the mountain head laser cannons. Tie down the thunderjaw, then use the disc launchers to attack it. Since this heavy weapon has very limited ammo, make sure each shot counts. If you manage to shoot away its heart core’s armor plating, then shooting that spot will deal tremendous damage. The overridden ravagers will do their part and will help take out the thunderjaw but you have to deal most of the damage first. Make sure to keep tying down the thunderjaw to allow your ravagers to take potshots at it.

Thunderjaw vs rvagers trial: Knock off both disc launchers then tie down the thunderjaw, both ravagers will show up by then. Easy kills since the disc launchers will knock down the ravagers.
