Hunting Grounds are special locations run by the Hunter’s Lodge in Meridian where hunters can spend time honing their skills and still keep the loot. Each hunting ground has three unique timed challenges with specific requirements to complete. Completing these challenges will award you with experience, reward boxes, and marks. The experience reward alone is good enough to make the entire ordeal worthwhile. There is a total of 5 hunting grounds in the entire map. Hunting grounds are also a good place to farm machine components since you can retake the challenges as often as you want and when you do, the machines in the hunting grounds gets reset as well. It’s even worth noting that all hunting grounds have their own campfires and merchants for your farming and grinding convenience.
Marks are proof of completing a trial and they come in three types: Half-Sun, Full Sun, and Blazing Sun. The Blazing Sun is the highest mark you can get by completing the challenge below the time allotted. Getting this mark also gives you the experience and reward boxes for the other two lesser marks. A hunting ground is considered complete by scoring a Blazing Sun in all three challenges. In addition to the rewards mentioned above, you can also get a free skill point by getting the set of Blazing Sun marks in a hunting ground.
Marks can be traded for unique Lodge weapons from Aidaba in the Hunter’s Lodge for getting 15 marks from all trials across all hunting grounds. You can get a total of 3 new weapons for each complete set of Half Suns, Full Suns, and Blazing Sun marks. You can redeem these weapons all at once or claim them one at a time, depending on which marks you have completed. Getting all these weapons are also part of the sidequest "Weapons of the Lodge".
