Head to Meridian’s Palace of the Sun and talk to Marad who is standing in front of the guards at the end of the bridge. Follow Marad as he leads you to the Sun King himself. After reaching the throne, a cutscene will play. While speaking privately with you, you can ask more questions to Avad.

After the dialogue, make your preparations and travel to Pitchcliff. If you have unlocked this location already, simply fast-travel there at your convenience. Head to the marketplace to look for Marad’s operative. Erend will join in shortly but the operative is still nowhere to be seen. Use your Focus to check the area then activate the trail. Follow it until you reach the well outside the wall. The body of Marad’s operative will be lying there. Examine the body for a cutscene.

After getting your quest updated, make your way north and follow the path until you reach the outskirts of the unmarked Oseram camp where Dervhal is supposed to be hiding. Now, similar to your surprise attack with previous main quest, Revenge of the Nora, Erend and his men will allow you to sneak in and try to score some stealth kills. If ever you get discovered, they’ll immediately storm the camp.

There are also captured machines inside and outside the camp. These can be released by destroying the chains; however, they will not distinguish their targets and will proceed attacking both your allies and enemies. It’s also quite unfortunate that you can’t override them while they’re tied. They can also detect you, alerting the enemy oserams as well. That said, it doesn’t seem to be possible to stealthily sneak inside the camp and kill everyone silently.

Even if that’s the case, it will still help sniping the lookouts first and anyone you can reach with your sharpshot bow. When ready, equip your blast sling and blast ammo then start charging inside. The blast ammo should be powerful enough to deal heavy damage and knock down human enemies. Just be careful when shooting since the explosions’ splash damage can free the captured machines.

Continue deep in the camp and clear out the hostiles. You don’t need to necessarily free the machines and kill them. Instead, head to the cottage’s entrance with the objective marker and open the door. After the cutscene, you’ll have to defeat Dervahl’s Champion. This is just an ordinary thug with a heavy weapon so shoot it with blast ammo as well and he won’t even have the chance to shoot his Firespitter.

After defeating the champion, interact with the blinking circle to disable the sonic device. Head down to the basement to trigger a cutscene. After the scene, use your Focus to identify the items of interest in the workshop. You have to examine Dervahl’s machine parts and journal to update the quest. The journal will count as a Quest Datapoint. Don’t forget to examine the audio datapoint (#63) in the corner of the room beside the doorway. Finally, talk to Erend after finding the objects and to complete the quest.
