There are five of these towering non-hostile machines that can be scaled and overridden to reveal a huge portion of the map in their vicinity. Since this help immensely in clearing the overworld map fog while also giving you free XP and skill points, overriding them is a must. Overriding Tallnecks will usually involve finding and climbing a jump-off point, high enough to reach the Tallneck’s rods at the back. The jump-off points are usually guarded by watchers; in some occassions, there are nearby machines as well so clearing your way at least to the jump-off point will be necessary.

After successfully grabbing that, it’s just a matter of climbing your way up to the head and pressing the Override button. To jump down, find a jump-off point on the Tallneck’s head to rappel down. While sliding down, the overridden Tallneck will send an EMP blast that will wipe out all nearby machines in the immediate area, which will ensure your safety upon landing on the ground, as well as free loot.
