As you encounter new machines, they'll be automatically added to your Notebook > Machine Catalogue after using your Focus to scan them. You can consult this list later on if you need to review their weak spots, Overrides, and drops.

Chargers are grazers too but more aggressive when they detect a threat. They are known to gang up and actively search for targets, making them quite dangerous for under-equipped and unskilled hunters. Their main method of attack is by charging towards their target but this can easily avoided.

These are dangerous predator machines that employs stealth and a silent yet deadly dart attack. If you’re able to detect it ahead of time, consider destroying its stealth generator first to prevent it from hiding. If not, it will use stealth and use ranged dart gun attacks or mine launchers. While in stealth, the machine isn’t entirely invisible; on daylight, follow the shimmer and distortion it generates and when fighting it at night, follow the light it emits, from its weapons and eyes. When its stealth generator is destroyed, it will employing melee attacks. Don’t let your guard down when facing this ambusher.

Probably the first aerial machine you’ll encounter, these crow-like scavengers are like scrappers of the sky. They’ll usually scavenge on nearby machine wrecks and they utilize ranged freeze attacks. They’re quite hard to hit on the move so having the Concentration skill is necessary to hit it accurately when it’s on the air. Always target its freeze sac to deal heavy damage and disable its ranged freeze attack. If this component is destroyed while it’s flying, this will cause the Glinthawk to crash down to the ground which can be followed up with another body shot using an arrow or if within melee range, a critical takedown.

True to its namesake, these agile combat machines are responsible for corrupting other machines, making them more aggressive and deadly. While its Spike and Grenade Launchers provide formidable ranged attacks, it can leap at great distances and it can move on almost any type of terrain. While its offensive capabilities are certainly dangerous, it can be easily killed by luring it to explosive tripwires and traps. If you also manage to knock off its armor plating near its head, you can expose its vulnerable Heat Core, which can deal tremendous damage if you manage to hit it.

This is a dangerous combat machine strikingly similar to a Sawtooth but much faster and has a mounted cannon used for rapid-fire ranged attacks. As much as possible, do not engage more than one of these in the open, or when there are other machines outside without proper preparation. Prioritize destroying its cannon to force it engage you in melee combat using Tearblast arrows then switch to Shock arrows to take out its power cells and deal considerable damage. When attacking it from stealth, then take out the power cells first to deal heavy damage and start off with the advantage.

These huge machine crocodiles primarily uses ranged freeze attacks and they can close the distance quickly through quick lunge attacks. Taking out their Freeze Sacs disables their only ranged attack while also freezing the Snapmaw itself, making it vulnerable to any type of damage. Since the Sac is also located in its throat, traps and tripwires are very effective against the Snapmaw. If you can’t target its freeze sac, you can use a Tearblast arrows to take out its blast canisters and solar panels on its back and tail for additional damage.

These large, burrowing machines are annoying at the same time dangerous since they’ll spend most of the time burrowing and will only emerge to attack you. Their range attack includes lobbing a shower of heavy boulders towards you which can spell bad news especially if you’re in the open. Since they can only burrow and emerge on soil, taking cover behind solid rocks will give you ample protection against their attacks. Engaging them up close is a bad idea as well since they have an area attack as well. Unfortunately, there’s no way disable these attacks. Your only hope of winning is to destroy its digging claws in all of its legs to prevent it from burrowing permanently. Well-placed tearblast arrows or double/triple precision arrows from the Sharpshot Bow on these components can easily destroy them. Once they can’t burrow anymore, you can freely target the exhaust port, which deals more damage.

This heavy, gargantuan machine is usually escorted by some machines but is more than capable of defending itself on its own. It’s main method of attack is using its Force Loader to lift a huge boulder and throw it towards you. Its other ranged attack is by pelting you a shower of smaller but damaging rocks. Using the tearblast arrow to take out its Force Loader component will disable these ranged attacks, forcing the Behemoth to engage you in melee range. While its melee attacks can be easily dodged, you can forcibly trip it by luring it to tripwires. It’s power cell is somewhat hidden but you can inflict a lot of damage if you manage to detonate it with a shock arrow. Finally, its exposed Freeze Canister can slow it down significantly if you manage to detonate it with a freeze arrow and make it vulnerable to additional attacks.

The ultimate combat machine with powerful weapons, scanning capability, high armor, and HP pool. It’s quite fast for its size and its large strides can quickly close the distance if it detects you. Its dual cannons are very deadly and can be a challenge to evade if you’re in the open. The disc launchers can’t ignored as well since they’ll home in your position, lock on you and detonate. Never engage a Thunderjaw without a plan and without solid cover. It can easily destroy small trees and boulders so you need to be aware of your surroundings to avoid getting cornered. It’s already a challenge to take on this monster when it’s alone so as much as possible, don’t lure it near other machines. When in melee range, it swings its massive tail that can send you flying and deal heavy damage if not avoided.

The Sharpshot bow’s precision arrows will deal consistent damage but you should prioritize taking out its dual cannons with the tearblast arrows or heavily damaging these components. Once its out, take out the disc launchers, the tail, then aim for the armor plating in the lower part of its neck, near the middle of its body to expose the heart. Double/triple-notched arrows can deal tremendous damage on this weak part. Don’t let your guard down even if you stripped it of its cannons, disc launchers, and tail part. It can still use a multi-directional laser beam at medium range. This is its “desperation” protocol so there’s no way to disable this attack. Make sure to be near solid covers and obstacles when engaging the Thunderjaw at this state.

Later on, once you have access to the Carja Shadow Ropecaster which fires heavy tie ropes, you should be able to hold this gargantuan down to the ground with at least four cables, allowing you to get easy shots on it. Once the cables snaps and before the Thunderjaw recovers its footing, you should have enough time to use your Ropecaster again and fire another set of cables to keep it to the ground.
These giant aerial combat machine has a wider detection range compared to other land-dwelling machines you encountered. In combat, it will primarily use its lightning gun to shoot shock projectiles. These projectiles will “splatter” on the ground, leaving a small area of lingering electricity on their wake that will continually damage you if you stand on it. The stormbird also has an overhead dive attack that can deal heavy damage if you don’t evade fast enough. Occasionally, the stormbird also lands and will raise a frontal barrier while walking towards you. At melee range, the stormbird is capable of unleashing a rapid peck attack.
Since it’s facing you when engaging you from the air, it will expose its lightning gun and engine components most of the time. Take out the Lightning Gun first then the engines. Good tearblast arrow hits should do the trick. Like dealing with other large machines, use the terrain for your defense. Solid rocks and elevations will protect you from most of its attacks and will allow you to get into favorable shooting positions to retaliate. Precision arrows from damage-modded Sharpshot bows can deal consistent damage even when you don’t hit the weak components. If the stormbird crashes, don’t bother running towards it unless it crashed near you since it has quick recovery from falls.
Later on, once you have access to the Carja Shadow Ropecaster which fires heavy tie ropes, you should be able to hold this bird down to the ground with at least four cables, allowing you to get easy shots on it. Once the cables snaps and before the stormbird flies away, you should have enough time to use your Ropecaster and fire another set of cables to keep the bird on the ground.

This is a non-hostile machine that's almost invulnerable. You can still get damaged if you stand on its path or fall while climbing it.

These stronger and more aggressive versions of normal machines you’ll encounter. They leave a trail of corruption on their wake so avoid stepping on these trails when you’re tracking them. All corrupted machines are generally weak to fire but you still target their default weak spots to deal damage. You can usually find them within corrupted zones but some of them roam outside these zones, like the ones deep in Devil’s Thirst.
