This becomes available after completing the sidequest Heap of Trouble. In Free Heap, talk to the man named Kaeluf. After learning the reason why he switched places with another person, you’ll have the choice to find the missing hunters or report to Petra first.

Head to the marked location in the map where the hunters are supposed to be watching for the behemoth convoy. If you used one of the campfires due south of the objective area, follow the main road north and you’ll immediately overhear a couple bickering above the hills. Head to their location and talk to them. They’ll tell you that they lost the herd; once Aloy offers to track the machine convoy, they’ll offer going with you. Since you’ll be dealing with three behemoths and a couple of shell-walkers, it’s okay to accept their help.

Use your Focus in the immediate area to find the tracks. Highlight the tracks and follow it until you find the machine convoy. Get near the convoy while placing tripwires and traps along the way. Next, attack one of them to get their attention then fall back to your traps. Use tearblast arrows to easily strip components off the shell-walkers.

For behemoths, tearblast arrows or explosives should be aimed on the components on their heads first to disable their long-range attacks. Next, you can use shock arrows to destroy the belly component and the canisters on the back of the behemoth to deal extra damage.

After taking down the behemoths, loot the machine corpses and scattered parts until you collect 9 behemoth cables. Talk to the hunters next, then you’ll have the option to either bring the parts yourself or leave the parts to them so they can deliver them on their own.

Should you decide to deliver the cables on your own, you have to report back to Petra and Kaeluf to complete the quest.
