The Looming Shadow

This is the second to the last quest in the game and I strongly suggest finishing up your pending activities before starting this. This quest will automatically continue to the last quest in the game through a series of scripted events preventing you from going anywhere or doing anything else until you complete it. Also, getting the Shieldweaver armor from the Ancient Armory will greatly help in the following battles. When you’re ready, head back to Meridian and talk to Sun-King Avad in the Sun Palace.

After the conversation with the Sun-King, you can technically rest before the final battle but if you want, you’ll have the optional tasks of reviewing the defenses at the Ridge and at the Spire. You’ll find familiar faces at both locations; these is where you’ll see the allies that will rally to support you - characters that you have helped through various sidequests. Use this time also to familiarize yourself with the terrain where the last major battles will take place.

The majority of the battle will take place in the ridge, that’s why having access to the heavy weapons provided by Petra (if you completed her sidequest in Free Heap) will help tremendously in keeping the waves of machines at bay. Talk to everyone if you want until the optional objective is completed.

Next, you have to check out the defenses at the spire. Follow the marker and make your way to the mesa where the spire is located. You have to talk to Talanah, Sona, Varl, and Erend to complete the review of the spire defenses. When ready, make the final preparations and head to Olin’s house to rest and complete this quest. The last story quest in the game begins immediately afterward.
