This is a new combat mechanic in the game, along with the Introduction of Battalions. A unit with a Battalion assigned to him/her will be able to use Gambits, which will depend on the battalion assigned to the unit. Gambits can be used for offense or Support and will have their own effective Range as well as a variety of different effects. To view these details, you can access the Inventory menu then select Battalions.

Here are some additional details about gambits:

* Units hit by gambits will be rattled. When rattled, they won’t be able to move, use gambits, benefit from other Battalions, and suffer 10% penalty to all Stats.

* The strength of the gambit will be affected by the unit’s Charm Stat.

* Gambits have limited uses, which can be affected by the unit’s Authority Stat.

* If the Battalion’s endurance has been depleted and retreats, the unit can’t perform gambits anymore.

* Enemy units can perform gambits against the players’ units.

* Adjutants will join the unit's Battalion in attacking the target.

As a general recommendation, assign Battalions to match up to their unit’s class. While there’s no problem assigning a Mage Battalion to a combat class unit, giving the unit access to Gambits that will help them fulfill their role (damaging the enemy, tanking Damage, etc) will give you more versatility and reliability in the long run.

Gambit Boost

When a gambit is used on an enemy within the attack range of one or more of your allied units, it will become a Gambit Boost which increases the might (Mt) and hit rate of the gambit. This boost will increase based on the number of participating units and their respective support levels to the user. This mechanic is similar to Linked Attacks.

Using Gambits against Demonic Beasts

Demonic Beasts are special monsters in the game which requires multiple allied units to work together in order to defeat it. Since these monsters have layers of protective shields, you’ll need to use gambits or powerful attacks (such as effective combat arts or spells) to break through. A gambit can also direct the beast’s aggro or attention towards the last gambit user.
