There are also three Chests found in the treasure room to the southwest corner, while enemies in the garden to the southeast carry items that you can obtain by defeating them. If you want to reach both sections of the Map, clearing the hall to the south will be necessary.
Once the battle starts, you can fight defensively by blocking both doorways covering the southern hall to create a bottleneck and stop enemies from attacking your rear flank. Otherwise, you can just send your stronger units there to tank or clear the hall with counterattacks. Make sure whichever unit you’ll send to the treasure room has keys.
Next, your units will be within the attacking Range of the enemies to the north of your starting point. It’s better to lure them in attacking your position since going near them will get your units within their ballista and fire orb’s range. If you’re confident about your unit’s survivability, you can preemptively attack them instead of luring them in. One of the enemies there will drop a Door Key, which you can use on the central door leading to the throne room. However, don’t open it yet since Edelgard will start calling for reinforcements as soon as you set foot there.
Have your units continue wiping out the enemies in the southern hall. If you have enough chest keys, you can obtain a Giant Shell, Kadmos Shield, and Silver Gauntlets from them. Your other units in the main hall can now aggro the giant Demonic Beast and gang up on it to defeat it.
After a few turns, Dedue will arrive from the northeast stairs as a green, allied unit and enter the throne room, aiming to take on all the enemies there. While he’s very sturdy, he won’t be able to defeat all enemies there, especially with the giant Demonic Beast standing before him.
If you intend on helping him survive and at least get a revenge hit against Edelgard, the best way is using Rescue on him and transferring him with your main party. If not, you’ll be forced to heal him whenever you can as you fight your way through the remaining imperial forces. You can also have Claude talk to him as well so convince him to temporarily join your army for the entirety of the battle. You still won’t be able to control him, however.
Continue wiping out the enemies until you’re able to defeat the enemies operating the long-Range weapons. Make your way to the throne room while remaining cautious not to overextend your forces. Try defeating the giant Demonic Beast first before entering the throne room.
Once you’ve entered the throne room, Edelgard will spawn reinforcements from both sides. They will keep appearing every other turn so if you have a unit that can one-shot them, you can leave them to guard their spawn point and deal with reinforcements as they appear.
After clearing out Edelgard’s royal guards, you can now decide how to deal with her. If Dedue survives and at full HP, you can have him take a swing at Edelgard to severely Damage her and to let him get a bit of revenge for his master. Since Edelgard is a heavy-armored unit, you can easily finish her off with a powerful spell. If not, try to soften her more with Gambits before landing the finishing blow. After Edelgard falls, the mission will be complete.
After the battle, you’ll be able to rescue Rhea and the chapter will end shortly after.
