Rank S Support and Romance Options

As the main character of the game, players can choose whether they want to play as the male or female Byleth. The chosen gender will affect your romance options in the game. Rank S Support level is only available for Byleth.

As for the other characters you’ll want to pair up, the highest rank they could attain is A/A+. Characters can have up to three “close allies”. You can check this by visiting the Notes tab of their character profile. During the epilogue at the end of the game, the top character on the Close Allies list will become that unit’s “partner”. If that character is not viable, the next close ally will be chosen and so on.

The Closest Allies list is dynamic as you play through the game and will depend on the current Support level a character has over the others. If you want to match and pair up a character so that they’ll end up as romantic or platonic partners when you finish the game, you may stop developing the Support Levels of the chosen units to other characters and just keep the two characters you’re shipping as partners in combat as much as possible.

Here are some important notes to consider as well:

• There are no child units in FETH, unlike in the recent FE titles.
• You have to spend as much time as possible with your chosen romantic partner both in the battlefield or in the monastery.
• Romantic options are story-locked. You can only progress to Support Level A onwards once you progress to the time-skip phase of the game.
• House Leaders (Edelgard, Claude, Dimitri) can only become as romantic partners if you joined their Houses. Claude and Dimitri can’t become same-sex romantic partners.
