Weapons only have a number of uses before their durability runs out. Every time you attack or counterattack using that weapon, the durability is reduced by 1. If you use Combat Arts, the durability will go down based on the Combat Art’s usage cost.
It’s recommended to carry at least 2-3 different weapons of varying types and strength to spread out your durability loss depending on the situation. This will allow you to use your weaker weapons to finish off dying enemies and use your strongest weapons for healthier targets. |
Once their durability reaches 0, they’ll be broken. You can still use broken weapons but they’ll have severely reduced might (Mt) and hit rate; furthermore, enemies will be able to make Follow-up attacks against the user.
Spells are permanently learned by units in the game and not through using spellbooks, unlike the previous Fire Emblem titles. This usage limit that will be replenished automatically after the battle ends. Thus, there’s no need to “Repair” them. |
You can Repair broken weapons via the Blacksmith facility. Once repaired, their durability will be fully replenished. Furthermore, you can also enhance most weapons through the blacksmith’s Forge option. This will increase permanently increase the durability of forged weapons.
The Sword of the Creator is the special artifact weapon exclusive to Byleth. It doesn’t become broken once its durability reaches 0 but to restore its durability, Byleth needs to take a day off or Repair it using special materials via the Blacksmith. |
