This cartoonish version of Link is how he appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and a few other titles. In Smash Bros., he uses moves much like his older, taller counterpart. His small size gives him extra speed, though, so take advantage of that to send your foes flying.

Recovery

Toon Link's Grab command fires off the Grappling Hook that allows him to grab hold of edges from a distance. However, this requires proper timing since missing the edge will always almost too late to recover from. His Up Special is his main recovery move and has decent jump height. After using this move, he'll be in free fall so make sure you aim and use this near the edge where Toon Link can hold unto.

Gameplay

Toon Link's moveset is very similar to Link. Due to his size, he is faster and lighter. Toon Link's shield can block incoming projectiles in front of him. With a cost of being small, Toon Link's damage output isn't that reliable. He also lacks reliable horizontal recovery moves. However, most of his moves make use of his sword, giving him a bit of reach advantage. Overall, you have to use Toon Link's agility to evade enemy attacks and harass them with

Toon Link has good projectile/ ranged moves. Hero's Bow allows Link to harass opponents from a distance but it's not powerful enough to stop opponents on their tracks. His Boomerang deals good damage but if you fail to catch it when it returns, it will fly off and will prevent you from using it again until it is restored in your inventory. Toon Link's bomb can be thrown to enemies or you can just hold it and keep close to your target to make it explode. The blast won't damage Toon Link as long as there's an enemy hit. He will throw the bomb if you use basic attacks but you can hold on to it if he will use Special Moves. Holding the bomb while spinning around with Up Special is a good way to deal extra damage to an opponent caught within the move. Toon Link's Down Air deals pretty good damage and has a “meteor effect”. His Smash attacks have the same range with his normal attacks but with increased power and launching power.
