Recovery
Samus' only recovery option is her Screw Attack. She lacks decent horizontal recovery moves so she has to make do with the default double-jump.
Gameplay
Even when armed with an arm cannon like Mega Man, Samus isn't a pure projectile-type fighter. She only has two projectile moves: Missile and Charge Shot. Missile tracks down its target and its explosive blast isn't something that opponents will just gladly take on every single time. Charge Shot retains the power of the charge even when interrupted making it a potent projectile at any distance. When fully charged, opponents are forced to fight defensively and anticipate when you'll fire the fully charged energy ball. You can fire Samus' charge shot anytime, regardless if you're airborne or on the floor. This is a good way to disrupt opponents trying to get back to the stage.
Samus' Down Special (Bomb) is also a good move to annoy your opponents. The bombs you release when using this move has a delayed explosion. These explosions don't do that much damage but it's powerful enough to stop enemies on their tracks or deal good damage if they're caught off guard. Screw Attack can be used both as an attack or recovery move. The short explosive blasts that come from Samus' arm cannon gives her extended range but mediocre damage. Samus is an average-weight character that can deal considerable damage not through combos but careful, accurate hits.
