Special Attacks

Shield Breaker (Neutral Special)
Lucina performs a powerful stab that pierces through and breaks through shields.

Dancing Blade (Side Special)

Keep pressing the special button while tilting the circle pad to perform a flurry of slashes, up to four times. The second to fourth strikes can be changed by tilting up while the third and last strikes can be modified by tilting down while the move is in progress.

Dolphin Slash (Up Special)

Lucina quickly jumps in the air while slashing upward. This deals minor damage but can reach a good height.

Counter (Down Special)

Lucina takes a counterattack stance in anticipation of the incoming attack. If successful, she can deal the same damage as the strength of the attack countered. She can even counter when she has her back away from the enemy.

Air Attacks

Two fast, wide-ranged, horizontal slashes

Side Air (Front)

A standard, downward slash

Side Air (Back)

Lucina slashes upward towards the back.

Up Air

Final Smash

Critical

Lucina dashes forward at blinding speed, and will deliver a critical blow to the first enemy that's standing along the path. If there are nearby opponents, they'll be launched off the stage too. This strike can launch any opponent, even the heaviest ones and even without damage. However, there's a danger of flying off stage if there are no opponents hit or obstacles to stop Lucina's dash. You can cancel this move by pressing the special button again.

Recovery

Lucina's primary recovery move is her Dolhin Slash. This gives her a good height recovery though its angle is a bit limited so you have to be very close to the stage's edge to ensure that you'll be able to grab it. This move also puts Lucina in fall state so if she misses her mark, she'll fall helplessly to the ground or to oblivion. She lacks reliable horizontal recovery moves so its better to rely on carefully timed double-jumps to get back to the stage.
Down Air

Gameplay

Lucina's attacks rely heavily on her sword. Though she doesn't deal that much damage, her sword gives her a bit of reach advantage and she's agile enough to connect her attacks. Lucina relies on precision hits, instead of attacks that require button mashing. This means that she needs to build up damage or attack opponents with already high damage in order to score a knock out. She'll have to rely on her Dancing Blade move to deal decent damage while performing a good multi-hit combo. Her Shield Breaker is very potent against shields but to be able to deal great damage and break shields, Lucina has to charge it up first. The charging time isn't that optimal though; so don't expect to use this move that often without proper timing. Her moves are very similar to Marth so if you're playing as the latter, you'll be immediately familiarize yourself with Lucina's moves.
