Neutral Attack / Special | Press the attack or special button only without using the Circle Pad. |

Up/ Side / Down Smash | Hold the circle pad to the corresponding direction and press the attack button at the same time. Smash attacks can be charged. It can be released prematurely or the character will release it after charging the move enough. |
Dash Attack | Tap left or right to dash then press the attack button. |
Air Attacks | Similar to basic attacks and specials, most characters perform different air attacks by using similar button and circle pad combinations. |
Recovery | This is the recommended move to get back to the edge of the stage ledge if ever you get blown off but not KO'd |
Final Smash | After successfully destroying a Smash Ball, press and hold the special button to unleash your character's Final Smash attack. |
Basic Attacks
Pit starts with a couple of slashes that turns into a flurry of slashes if the first two slashes connect to the target.
Pit slashes his blades like a scissor.
Pit kicks upward
Pit will slash one of his blades downward.
Dash Attacks
Pit dashes forth and swing his blades at the moment the attack button is pressed.
Smash Attacks
Pit performs a two-hit slash, the second one dealing more damage and knock back power.
Pit performs a two-hit slash upward, the second one dealing more damage and knock back power.
Pit performs a two-hit slash sweep that has considerable damage and knock back power.
Special Attacks
Fires a light arrow. You can charge up for a few seconds to increase the power, range, and speed. While charging, you can tilt up to fire the arrow upward.
Pit charges towards the target to deliver a powerful uppercut if it connects. This can send the target flying, and can be used to deflect projectiles as well.
Pit launches himself up to a great height. This attack doesn't damage enemies but can be an excellent recovery move. This leaves him to a “fall” state as well.
Deploy shields on both sides that can push enemies away and also protect you from any attack for a couple of seconds. The shields can also reflect projectiles. This can be done on both land or air. You can press and hold the button to keep the shields up longer. However, they do take damage and can be broken. Once broken, it will take a while before the get restored.
Air Attacks
Pit spins his blade in front of him vertically. Enemies caught in it will get hit multiple times.
Pit will spin his blades horizontally (front)
Pit will stab both of his blades for a back attack.
Pit spins his blade over his head, similar to a chopper. Enemies caught in it will get hit multiple times and get knocked off.
Pit slashes downward, making the enemy hit hard on the ground
Final Smash
Pit equips the Three Sacred Treasures and fires a volley of homing projectiles that can hit multiple targets. After the projectiles landed, he'll call down beams of light from the sky.
Recovery
Pit can jump four times but the third and fourth jumps have less jump height. This can be used to break your fall or cover additional horizontal distance. Power of Flight is Pit's main vertical recovery move that has great height reach. You can even control the direction diagonally. This leaves him in a fall state but you can still control where he'll drop. Upperdash Arm is a good offensive move and can be used as a reliable horizontal recovery tool as well.
Gameplay
Pit is an overall average character. Most of his attacks take advantage of his dual blades so he has a bit of reach advantage compared to characters not wielding any weapons. His Smash attacks have good reach and power. His Palutena's Bow is a good ranged harassment move, which you can increase the power further by charging it. Uppderdash Arm is a solid, ranged move that can deal considerable damage to the opponent and send him flying. This move also deflects projectiles and prevents Pit from flinching while in the middle of the action. Guardian Orbitars give Pit a reliable defense as it can protect him from attacks for a few moments and deflect projectiles as well. This can be done on both land or air. You can press and hold the button to keep the shields up longer. However, they do take damage and can be broken. Once broken, it will take a while before the get restored. His aerial attacks have good range as well and can usually deal multi-hit damage to opponents.
