Down Smash

Special Attacks

Mach Tornado (Neutral Special)

This Meta Knight's spinning attack that can lift him and destroy smaller projectiles. Hitting the special button while the move is in effect increases the spin and height of the move.

Drill Rush (Side Special)

Meta Knight will fly towards the direction where the move is executed while spinning and with his sword outward, similar to a drill. Players can change the direction of the move upward.

Shuttle Loop (Up Special)

Meta Knight will fly while looping once. This jump has a really good height but will render Meta Knight in a “fall” status.

Dimensional Cape (Down Special)

Meta Knight vanishes in a split-second and reappear again. If you tilt the circle pad to the left or right, you can make him appear to that direction at a short distance.

Air Attacks

Neutral Air

Meta Knight somersaults in the air while his sword drawn.

Side Air (Front)

A normal forward slash.

Side Air (Back)

Multiple slashes at the back.

Up Air

A standard upward slash.

Down Air

A standard downward slash.

Final Smash

Galaxia Darkness

Meta Knight waves his cape. Anyone caught within it will be swallowed by darkness and will sustain heavy damage. Characters who are not within the range of the cape will still suffer low damage due to the darkness.

Meta Knight can jump up to six times, which is quite beneficial for a lightweight character like him. His multiple number of jumps should be more than enough to get you back on the stage. In addition to his jumps, he can also rely on some of his Special moves. Shuttle Loop is his main vertical recovery move because of its high reach. However, after using this move, Meta Knight will fall helplessly until he hits solid ground.

Aerial Recovery

His Drill Rush has a very good horizontal reach and will give you a good opportunity to damage opponents who will attempt to prevent you from recovering back to the stage. In addition, his Dimensional Cape is an outstanding evasive horizontal recovery move as long as you memorized its maximum distance.

Albeit his small size, Meta Knight is one of the best equipped light characters in the game. His aerial attacks are quite average so don't expect it to be his strong suite. His moveset has the right combination of quick, offensive attacks – some of which can even be abused and used as recovery moves. Drill Rush is quite effective for both attack and recovery because of its range. Dimensional Cape allows you to move past your opponent so you can deliver Meta Knight's quick slashes from behind. His Mach Tornado serves as both shield against weaker projectiles and a multi-hit spinning move against unguarded enemies within his range.
