After completing The High Council and placing all 8 valkyrie helmets to the council thrones, a realm tear will appear in the middle. If you feel that you're ready, you can interact with the tear and as soon as you do, Sigrun will grab and drag you to the ground, starting the favor and a really challenging battle.
As the queen of the valkyries, Sigrun will be probably one of your most frustrating opponents yet. She has the ferocity, speed, and power of all the valkyries you faced before. You have to fight defensively for the entire battle since she has a really long health bar and her damage output is just disgusting. Due to her wide variety of attacks and her exceptional ability to chain or switch between them, the battle will be less geared towards prediction but on reaction.
Since you have faced all the other valkyries before facing Sigrun, I won’t be discussing her individual attacks anymore since you should already know how to react to those standard attacks. Just take note that she has a disgusting way of canceling her attacks mid-animation and quickly switch to another stance or attack that can catch you off guard.
Just concentrate in blocking, parrying, or evading her attacks then counterattack with your own runic attacks. You have to utilize both your axe and blades runic attacks to get the most damage done. The best opportunities for counterattacking will be after evading her unblockable flying charge grab, after evading her unblocking right hook, her powerful overhead stomp, and parrying her scythe attack.
It’s important to avoid using ranged runic attacks offensively (targeting her when she’s not attacking or recovering from an attack) as she seems to counter this by flying up in the air and catching you with her powerful unblockable overhead stomp. Play it safe and use your runic attacks only when she’s briefly open for counterattacks as mentioned above.
Keep Atreus busy since his shock arrows can interrupt some of Sigrun’s weaker attacks. It’s better to order him to empty his quiver by firing rapid volleys. Also, don’t be fooled by the considerable number of healthstones she drops, especially when she sustains heavy damage from your attack. Blindly going after and picking up these stones immediately without keeping your eye on her will just work against you. A small amount of HP that you can possibly recover is not worth the risk of sustaining heavy damage from her.
When she’s critically wounded, she’ll tend to become more erratic and harder to track. This may put some sense of urgency to you but don’t be fooled; this mild panic can cause missteps and eventually losing this frustrating battle. Concentrate on keeping your guard up and attacking at the right time.
