Chapter 12: Escape from Helheim 1

You’ll be in the region of the realm that’s only available during this journey chapter so make sure to collect everything you can as you won’t be able to go back here later on. Once Atreus is free, peek over the ledge to the west to find a seal in the crack of the stone pillar. Destroy it for now to remove the seal of the nornir chest below.

For the meantime, grab at the marked portion of the wall nearby and shimmy around the corner. Climb up and go around the corner to reach the upper ledge. Take out the hel-reaver guard then clear the bramble. Go around the corner to find a wooden chest. Lift the nearby gate as well.

Continue to the bridge and jump across the gap. Destroy the enemies that will ambush you then lift the gate. Approach the edge of the ledge to trigger a short illusion. Once done, find the marked corner stone to the east and grab it so you can climb down.

After reaching the lower platform, destroy the bramble covering the wind trap and capture the wind. Transfer the wind on the left wind trap of the gate. Once the bar has retracted, freeze the gear wheel with your axe then transfer the wind again to the wind trap on the right this time. This will unlock the gate.

Push the gate open and you’ll find a hel-traveler behind it. This shouldn’t be a hard opponent to beat at this point. This enemy also drops a Chaos Flame, a unique material to upgrade your Blades of Chaos.

Loot its other drops then burn the nearby brambles. Open the gate to the west and burn the brambles to the right and destroy the reaver behind it. Drop down to the right and push the stone block as far as you can.

Backtrack to the previous platform where you encountered the traveler and go out to the ledge to the east. You should be able to jump to the stone block you pushed earlier and reach the coffin in the other platform. Loot its contents and jump back to the main platform.

Before going around the corner, backtrack to the wind trap in the other platform and find a marking in the corner to its left. Interact with it to allow Kratos to climb down. Follow the markings to reach the coffin under the platform. Loot its contents and destroy the hel-reaver that will spawn behind you.

Return to the main path and jump to the next portion of the ruins. You’ll find Baldur watching his own illusion. Continue shimmying around the corners until you reach the ledge around the ruins.

Climb down and destroy the weapon racks so you can crawl through the narrow tunnel and reach the coffin at the end. Loot its content and return to the main path. Drop down to the docks and destroy all enemies that will appear. Once cleared, don’t board the boat yet. After defeating all enemies, find a stone block that you can push then push it all the way to the gap so you can jump across it to the next area.

There’s a nornir chest chest. If you managed to destroy the first seal at the start of this chapter, then you should only need to find the other two seals. In any case, one of the seals are found in the stone pillar near the bridge as shown below.

Next, burn the bramble inside under the platform to the south to free the stone block. The second rune seal is found inside the hollow center of the stone block itself. Push/pull the stone block so that it lines up with the open gap to the east. Climb over the block and jump behind it to be able to destroy this rune seal.

Climb over the stone block again and pull it all the way to the back this time. This should line it up to the ledge above. Climb up the block and pull yourself up to the next ledge. Loot the wooden chest then look at the yellow pillar to the southeast. You should see the last seal there. Adjust your axe throw and once destroyed, go back down to loot the nornir chest. Once done, backtrack to the main path and board the boat.
