The Kanto Region was the first Pokemon Region players ever had the chance to journey through way back when in the 1st Generation Games. And since Pokemon FireRed is a remake of those very games, it comes as no surprise that players would once again travel through the Kanto Region. Unlike later Pokemon Regions, the Kanto Region is pretty basic in nature. One town tends to lead to the very next, only separated by a route or two or the occasion cave. Only Saffron City will be inaccessible during most of the early Main Story, but this is due to plot that surrounds Team Rocket. Still, the Kanto Region is pretty easy to navigate through, which helps players both young and old not get lost.
The Kanto Region this time around is practically identical to that is was back in the 1st Generation Games. Outside of the updated graphics, things in the Kanto Region are almost exactly as they have always been in Pokemon FireRed. However, there has been an addition to the Kanto Region in this remake, coming in the form of the Sevii Islands. These islands provide extra locations for players to explore, as giving them a Post Game Story that wasn't previously seen in the 1st Generation Games.
