How To Defeat Gym Leader Lt. Surge

The third Gym Leader you will face on the road to collecting all eight Kanto Gym Badges is Lt. Surge. He is the Vermilion City Gym Leader, specializing in Electric Type Pokemon. Unlike both Brock and Misty, Lt. Surge's Pokemon Team will be a little more difficult to defeat. If you did pick Bulbasaur as your Starter Pokemon, you will have a bit of an advantage over Lt. Surge since Grass Types aren't weak against Electric Types.

If you happened to choose Charmander or Squirtle as your Starter Pokemon, you might need to add an additional Pokemon on your way to Vermilion City to better help you with Lt. Surge's Voltorb, Pikachu and Raichu. The best Pokemon for this job is Geodude, which can be found in Mt. Moon. Lt. Surge's Electric Type Pokemon are weak against Ground Types like Geodude.
