As FreePlay has matured the mechanism for increasing the various hobbies and
Careers has matured with it, and the Arcade
Hobby is a perfect example of this process.
Arcade Gaming requires Level 24 or above, and that you have completed the
Mission Line Life
dreams & Legacies as well as built the Arcade on
Mystery Island.
Unlike most of the other hobbies, the Arcade
Hobby requires the Sim to come to it rather than allowing for the player to purchase and place a tool or device alone (once the collection is completed for the first time there IS a device to use at home) by which, once placed in the home of a Sim, the character can then "work" and level that hobby.
Building the Arcade
In the case of this
Hobby a Sim has to die. Actually several
Sims have to die - so there is a lot of blood on the hands of the first generation of Sim Teens who take up this hobby! Wow, that sounds a lot worse than it actually is... Sheesh.
Right so it is something of an exaggeration - I mean your Teen
Sims do not go out and kill an elder Sim for the change in their pocket, but truth be told there really will need to be some deaths before the Arcade
Hobby can blossom - largely because you cannot build the Arcade itself without a few Sims meeting their maker
Thanks to the required Geek
Life Orbs for the building of it...
Constructing the Arcade requires you to spend x1 Bronze Geeky Life Orb + x1 Silver Geeky Life Orb -or- you can pay for the construction costs in
LP at the tune of 150 LP total.
Neighbor Town Arcading
Neighbor Town Notes: As of the most recent update it is now possible for you to start, participate in, and complete every
Hobby in the game in a Neighbor Town provided that they actually have the specific hobby resources there.
Hobby Participation
The participation in this
Hobby is restricted to Teens, and the trigger point of the hobby is the Teen visiting the Arcade. Bear that in mind as you will not want to have a Teen participate who is doing a different hobby since that will reset them to the Arcade Hobby, which causes them to lose one full level of the previous hobby should you decide to have them return to it!
Arcade Hobby Skill Levels (Ranks)
Like the other hobbies your Sim will gain experience in the
Hobby as they do it, which is then applied to the collections to unlock the next rank of collection
Items. The Ranking System for the Arcade Hobby is:
- Level / Rank 1 - Button Masher
- Level / Rank 2 - Quarter Muncher
- Level / Rank 3 - High Scorer
- Level / Rank 4 - Local Hero
- Level / Rank 5 - Kill Screen Hunter
- Level / Rank 6 - World Record Holder
Arcade Hobby Collections
As with most of the other hobbies in the game there is a
Hobby level system AND a collection system for the Arcade Hobby. As is the case with the other collections, each Rank level of the Sim results in a different reward amount for collecting each set in the collection. The following collection sets are part of this collection:
The first time that a Sim completes the Collection System the special prize that is unlocked is an all-in-one video game cabinet that can then be purchased from the in-game store for home placement and use.
