Police Awareness

The city's police is always on the lookout and clearly have prejudice against them "colored folks". If you're in their presence, they may throw slurs at you and even attack you if you get too near. Police will also immediately give chase/react immediately if they witness a hit and run, if you ram vehicles near them, or if you pull out a weapon. If you're within the visibility of a police, you'll see a blue indicator similar to the awareness indicator of enemies. It doesn't necessary mean that you're in trouble; it just pertains that a police officer sees you and will react automatically if you cause any trouble

Witnesses

These are civilians who will run to the nearest telephone and call the police whenever they witness a crime, even if you didn't commit it. There are several ways of stopping witnesses:

  • Knock out a witness before he or she reaches the phone
  • Kill the witness using guns or explosives
  • Run over the witness
  • (For telephone booths) Destroy the booth
  • Use the Operator associate to disable the phones in the immediate area

Be careful when using violence in silencing witnesses in public as this may cause a chain reaction producing more witnesses that can spiral out of control.

Blue Police Zones

When you commit a crime, a blue zone will be established in the immediate area where you were last sighted or where the crime took place. While in the blue zone, police will be looking for you but not aggressively. If they spot you while you're in the blue zone, it may turn to a red zone where they would continue their pursuit and shoot you. You can sneak your way out of a blue zone on foot or speed away from the scene of the crime before the police arrives. The police in blue zones will eventually give up and leave the area, in which you can freely continue what you're doing.

Red Police Zones

While in this zone, the police will aggressively search for you and shoot you on sight. The more you fight back, the more reinforcements will arrive and the more aggressive they become. You can't stay long in a red zone so the best way is to break visual contact then sneak out of your way from the zone, preferably using a vehicle to escape.
