Saddle Path

Last Updated:
The Saddle Path in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a location that’s quite small, however it’s a place where you’ll be fighting a mini-boss that’s quite huge. Here, you’ll be meeting the Purple Scourge, a gigantic version of the Demon Boars that you’ll be encountering in this area.

Your objectives involve defeating and weakening it. So how does one manage to do that? Let’s check the strategy that you can use in order to accomplish this objective. On this page we shall see the objectives that you'll need to clear, as well as Tips on how to finish them.

Unlock Requirements: Reach the exit in Noxious Dale

Dungeon Stats

Location Enemy Strength
Entrance Day 18+ / Night 36+

Exploration Objectives

Exploration Objective (s) Star Rating
Defeat Purple Scourge 1/1 1 Star
Weaken Purple Scourge (raiment) 3/3 1 Star
Defeat Purple Scourge (40s) 1/1 1 Star
Defeat Purple Scourge (Night) 1/1 1 Star

Saddle Path Entrance

Once you enter the area, you’ll find three regular Demon Boars on the field. You’ll have to clear them first before you can fight the Purple Scourge. Aside from defeating it, you’ll want to Weaken it using your Raiment. In order to do this, we can use two skills that will help you: Tidal Wave, as well as Eldtritch Enfeeblement.

Tidal Wave lets you hit the ground and cause water to shoot from the ground. This has a chance of knocking over your enemy and they can fall to the ground. You’ll have to use Tidal Wave a couple of times against the Purple Scourge until it gets knocked to the sky and then crashes to the ground. The Demon Sparrows can get in the way, so try removing them first or making sure they don’t get hit by the Tidal Wave.

Use Tidal Wave to knock the Purple Scourge off the ground

Once the Purple Scourge is on the ground, you’ll attach your Raiment to it and use the Raiment skill called Eldtrich Enfeeblement, this causes a debuff and it can complete your objective of weakening the purple scourge. You’ll have to do the combination of these skills until you’re able to weaken the Purple Scourge three times.

Use Eldritch Enfeeblement after knocking down the Purple Scourge

For the remainder of your objectives, you can come back to the Saddle Path at a later time once Sakuna is stronger. Defeating the Mini-boss within 40 seconds as well as night can be challenging, so gaining multiple harvests and getting better growth for Sakuna will help. Once you have defeated the Purple Scourge, you should then be able to unlock the next area which is the Coursing Falls.
