The Eggplant Hollow in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a bigger dungeon compared to the ones that you have encountered so far. Instead of being Linear in terms of the direction that you’ll go through, you’ll be encountering different paths. When starting out, you’ll notice that there aren’t exploration objectives when previewing the dungeon.

There is more hidden in the Eggplant Hollow though. Not only will you find out that there are hidden objectives in this dungeon, but there is also something that’s awaiting you near the end of your run. On this page, we will provide helpful pointers and Tips to help you clear this area. Please read more below.

Eggplant Hollow Entrance

Before starting this dungeon, it’s highly suggested that you grow and harvest your first batch of rice. By the time it’s Autumn 3 of your first year, you should be able to harvest your rice. It’s best for you to get white rice since this will boost Sakuna’s Stats. There’s an enemy in this dungeon that will be quite difficult, so getting the needed stat boost will help you out.

Starting out in the Eggplant Hollow Entrance, you’ll find yourself a Box up ahead that will contain a Scroll Simple Recipes item. After claiming this, you’ll be able to proceed forward and clear out the enemy rabbits and sparrows.

There’s not much in the entrance. Once all enemies are cleared, you’ll only need to go forward and harvest the bush along the way. There should be an area near the end that will lead you to a pit that you can jump to. This will bring you to the next area of the dungeon.

Eggplant Hollow Interior

As you have dropped down to the interior, you’ll find a door to your left side. Interacting with it will let you know that you’re unable to enter, and that there are two conspicuous holes that you need to fill up. There are two ways you can go through the interior, left or right so it’s up to you.

If you go to the right side, you’ll fin a box that will contain a Scroll: Crashing Item. You can then continue by jumping down to the lower right area. There will be enemy rabbits and pigs along the way so defeat all of them. If you keep following the path, you’ll eventually need to go the area above on the upper right through your Raiment.

Once you’re on the level above, you’ll be heading left and fighting more monsters along the way. You’ll find a box that will contain a Waxing Crescent Stone, this is one half of the piece that you need and it will clear a hidden exploration objective.

Continuing to the left side, you’ll find a lit-up fire and then waves of monsters will appear. It would be good to use frontal smash here to knock enemies towards each other so you can take them all at once. Defeating all waves will let you exit to the left side and you’ll end up near the door that you started with in the interior.

At the door, you can head to the left this time and follow the path until the very end. This will be linear this time as you’ll head to levels below and fight monsters along the way. You’ll eventually end up in an area with another lit-up fire where you’ll have to defeat waves of enemies. Once all of them have been defeated, you can continue to the right side and find a box that has the Waning Crescent Stone. You can now exit back to the door by using your Raiments in order to go to the levels above. Once you’re at the door, you can enter to the next area.

Eggplant Hollow Interior

Once you enter, you’ll reach the Depths of Eggplant Hollow. A huge monster will follow you and this is one of the first boss battles that you’ll get to complete. The Red Belly is a boss that will hit really hard. This is why it’s best for you to harvest your first batch of rice and then get the best stats possible.

The Red Belly will jump occasionally and land on the ground that will cause a small shockwave. Look out for this attack, and keep your distance. You can use your Raiment in order to jump to the other side in case it swings its weapon towards you. Using your Frontal Smash and hitting other enemies will let you knock them towards the Red Belly and it will deal a lot of damage.

Defeating the Red Belly will clear the Warm Up quest for your log, and you’ll also receive the Enchantment of True Strength: Tycoon. In order to unlock the next areas of the game, you can then head Home in order to watch the cut scene. Once you reach the end of Winter, you’ll get a new quest called Pioneering that asks you to explore around the forest and discover its interior. You’ll then gain access to Dancing Mushroom Woods and Bellicose Beast Spring.
