Blighted Lake

For the next series of water related dungeons, we are now checking out the Blighted Lake in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. Here we’ll see new features on the field that this time can power up your enemies. There are barrier stones located throughout the dungeon and they can make things harder for you, destroying them is needed since it’s part of your tasks.

The Blighted Lake will feature new enemies towards the end as well, and they’ll be interacting with these Barrier Stones in order to become stronger. On this page we shall check the different objectives that you’ll find along the way and how to complete them.

Exploration Objectives

Blighted Lake Entrance

One of your objectives is to equip the Waterborne power, and this is an effect that you can get from one of your garments in the game. By now, you should already have helped Yui set up her little house where she can create equipment for you. Your aim is to create a Scale Hunter’s Garment, then you’ll need to release the Waterborne power as long as you have 5 pcs of Spring Water. Once you enter the Blighted Lake with this garment on, you’ll automatically complete that objective.

You’ll be starting off by jumping to the level below and you’ll find enemies waiting. To the very left side you should find a box with Revitalizing Remedy so get that first if you want. You’ll see a purple haze that is powering up the monsters, so your goal is to destroy the orbs with the purple flames which are the Barrier Stones. In order to complete your objective, you’ll have to destroy 12 total of these.

Continue to the right and you should find more Barrier Stones and enemies, clear all of them out. You should come across a bush and a mining spot along the way as well. You’ll eventually reach an area that has rotating Barrier Stones, so destroy them as well as the enemies below which will come in waves.

Towards the end, you’ll be fighting the Crimson Current. These are fish that are much bigger and they count as a mini-boss. You’ll have to use your Raiments to close in, and focus on taking them out. There will be two barrier stones up above that can be hard to reach, so you’ll want to focus on defeating the Crimson Current instead. You can knock them towards each other using your Raiment, or use Swallow Slice to strike them multiple times. Once you have defeated them, you’ll be able to complete your objective.

You can exit the dungeon and then head to the next areas. Your remaining objective here will be for you to defeat the Crimson Current at night, so you’ll have to come back later on once you are stronger. Night Runs will be easier post-game when you can focus on Farming and making Sakuna grow more with her stats.
