One of the first quests that you’ll do in the game in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is to explore Cylindric Cavern in order to collect some food for everyone at Home. Aside from Dragon’s Tunnel, this is the first dungeon that you’ll explore in the game that has exploration objectives. Completing objectives help unlock new locations in the game.

This is a fairly simple dungeon that lets you go to the right side; you’ll be clearing some enemies and gather resources. The meat that you get from enemy monsters can be used as food. You should also be able to experience the night cycle here. On this page we'll see how the dungeons go, and how they can progress as you continue later on in the game.

Cylindrical Cavern Entrance

This dungeon is fairy simple since it’s linear in terms of the location. From the very start you’ll be able to see a basket box up ahead that will provide you with a Scroll: Natural Cures item. This will help you recover HP if you’re idle as long as you aren’t hungry.

Continuing to the right side, you’ll find your first mining spot near the text. Resources can be gathered by hitting bushes as well as rocks that have glimmering lights. Rocks are one of the ways you can get Clay as well as Ores. Once you have collected your resources, you can jump up and continue heading to the right side. You’ll see more bushes up ahead, as well as some rabbit enemies.

The second mining spot will be on a small pit to the left, this will have some bushes in front of it as well so you can gather more resources. You can continue and fight more demon rabbits as you head up to the end of the cave.

Demon Sparrows will be ready to attack you and they’ll be flying around. You can press up and then use your Light attacks in order for Sakuna to jump in the air and deal multiple hits. A second wave of birds will appear after you have completed the first one. An item that they drop will be needed which is an Acorn. You need 5 pieces of this in order for Myrthe to learn how to cook for the family.

Once all birds have been defeated, you’ll complete your objective of clearing the innermost area. Before leaving, make sure to clear the third and fourth mining spot on the right side. Your remaining objectives will be defeating 30 Enemies total during the day, as well as 40 Enemies at night. You can always return to Cylindrical Cavern again to complete this.

Note: Monsters at night become really strong. It would be best for you to complete the night objective once you have cleared your first year and have gained stats from your first harvest. Once you have defeated all enemy requirements for the day and night, you’ll receive 100% exploration.

If you clear this dungeon for the first time, it would be better if you go Home first in order to progress the story. You’ll be able to return to Cylindircal Cavern shortly afer, and once you complete the objective of clearing 30 enemies during the day, you’ll now have access to the net dungeon which is the Skipping Stone Hill.
