What is the Museum in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This facility lets you submit any Insects, Fish, and Fossils that you have gathered in the game. Once they have been donated, they will be displayed in a beautiful exhibit that you can go to.

How do I unlock the Museum?

In order to unlock the Museum, you’ll be doing a number of tasks. Your first task is to bring Tom Nook’s Friend, Blathers to the island. In order to do so, you’ll have to complete the following:

1. Submit 5 Insects or Fish to Tom Nook at Resident Services. Once you talk to him, tell him that you have found a creature. After you give any fish or Insect that you find, Tom will then set aside the creatures that you have submitted.

2. Once you have completed the amount, Tom Nook will call up his friend Blathers, and he’ll talk about the biology on your Island. He will then ask you if you can locate a spot in the island for him.

3. Look for a location where you want to set up. A tent will be created for Blathers once he arrives. Once you have laid out the kit, Construction will begin and it will be completed the next day.

4. You can then proceed to the tent where you have chosen the location for and meet Blathers inside. He will express his interest in opening up a museum. You’ll be provided with a Vaulting Pole Recipe that lets you jump across rivers. As well as a Shovel recipe in order for you to dig Fossils.

5. You will have to donate 15 more specimens to Blathers. This can be a combination of Fish, Insects, and Fossils that are assessed by him. You can get these through fishing, using your Net, and Shovel on cracks on the ground. He will give you a countdown update if it’s nearly completed.

6. Once all 15 donations have been given, Construction will begin on the following day and it will take one day to complete. Once the Museum is opened, you can view the specimens you have donated there.

Museum Features

The Museum will let you donate any insects, fish, and fossils that you find. Any fossil should be assessed by Blathers first, and he won’t accept any donations that have already been submitted. Blathers can also give you interesting information about the fossils and creatures that you find.

This is one of the Activities that you can progress on in the game. You can catch a total of 80 Insects, 80 Fish, as well as find 80 pieces of Fossils. They are displayed in different sections on the Museum and it’s a nice place to look around once you have completed it.
