Arrival Day (Tutorial)

What happens on your Arrival Day at the Island? After you have created your character, chosen your island layout and Hemisphere, you’ll be arriving at your island. You’ll be given a brief course by Tom Nook and his family regarding your island life. This will serve as the game’s small tutorial.

Choosing a spot for your Tent

Once you have arrived, you’ll be instructed to go meet up with Tom Nook and 2 other villagers. You’ll be welcomed and to get things started, you’ll be provided with a tent. You can set this up anywhere on the island that’s within the confines of the surrounding river. You'll be asked to press X to access your inventory.

Go ahead and look for a spot that you like. Please take note that placing your tent near a river can cause you to get stuck if you’re beside it, make sure that there’s enough room for you to walk around your tent. Once you have chosen your spot, head back to Tom Nook.

Choose a spot for your neighbors

Tom Nook will suggest for you to talk to your neighbors and help them out with choosing their spots. This will introduce you to some villagers that will be living with you on the island, and it serves as an introduction to interacting with other Villagers.

You can listen to your neighbor’s preferences as well, and look for any spot that you think is good for their tent. Once you have placed Tents for both of your neighbors, you’ll be called by Tom Nook.

Preparing for the festivities

Tom Nook will want to celebrate your arrival with your new neighbors. As such, he’ll be tasking villagers with errands in order to prepare. Your job is to collect the following:

* 10 Branches for the Campfire

* 6 Pieces of Fruit for drinks

In order to pick up items, you’ll have to press Y. Branches are scattered near the ground beside trees and you can get fruit from the trees itself. You’ll be asked to get branches first, but you can go ahead and gather both items already. Once you have the required items, you can give them all to Tom Nook.

Naming your Island

Once the festivities begin, Tom Nook will mark the celebration by suggesting a name for the Island. Each villager will give a suggestion, and you shall give yours as well.

Once you have named the Island, everyone will applaud for your choice. Tom Nook will then appoint you as Resident Representative of the island.

Getting your Camping Cot

After the celebration, you can talk to Tom Nook in order to get your Camping Cot. This item can be used inside your tent and you can sleep if you want. This will mark the ending of your arrival.

Once you sleep, you’ll get a dream of K.K. Slider, he’ll say that once you wake up, you will now be following real time of your Nintendo Switch console, and your journey on the Island shall begin.

Getting your Nook Phone

Once you wake up, Tom Nook will be there outside to provide you with a Nook Phone, this device will come in handy with its features for the island.

You will then learn about your itemized bill, which is your debt for the getaway package. After Tom Nook realizes that you have no bells to pay with, he’ll be introducing you to Nook Miles. This point system will require you to enjoy yourself on the Island and you can pay your debt in Nook Miles+ instead. You can then start your game moving forward and do any Activity that you want.
