What is the Airport in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This facility lets you visit other Islands, and it provides you with access to multi-player options for both local and online. This place lets you send mail to your residents, and even to friends as well.

How do I unlock the Airport?

The Airport will be automatically unlocked on your second day on the island. An announcement will come from Tom Nook about its opening and you’ll be informed that it provides 24-hour services. All Airports are located at the south area of your island and this location cannot be changed.

Island with Resources

In order to visit other Islands, you must pay your initial loan of 5000 Nook Miles. Once you have completed that, Tom Nook will provide you with a Nook Miles+ ticket. You can purchase more at the Nook Stop for 2000 Miles each.

Getting a Nook Miles Ticket

The Nook Miles ticket lets you visit an Island for gathering resources. The island that you visit will change each time so make sure to not leave any items behind. You’ll find Islands with trees, rocks, fruit, Flowers, Fish, and even Insects. Each island has a DIY Work bench in case you need to create new Tools. Just choose to travel to another island using your Nook Miles+ ticket when you’re at the airport.

Multiplayer

You can have access to local or online multiplayer by visiting your friend’s islands as long as they’re your friend with your Nintendo Switch system. In order for an island to be accessed, one must open their airport gates. You can visit other islands that have their gates open, or people can visit yours as well.

Play with friends through Multiplayer

After you have visited another Island of a friend, you’ll also get to unlock the Best Friends List app on your Nook Phone upon returning to yours. This lets you assign friends as Best Friends which enables them to use their Axe and Shovel on your island.

== Mail Service== On the right side of the Airport Counter is a stack of mail cards that you can use. You can use this to send messages and items to your friends. It’s a good way of sending gifts, and it’s sent to their mailbox. You can send mail to residents of your island (player residents) and to others in your friends list.
