What island should you choose when starting your game? This is actually a matter of personal preference since the island choices that appear change each time when you start the game.

Before you get to choose your island, Timmy and Tommy Nook will ask about your details after character creation. You’ll be asked about which hemisphere you’re currently living in so your island will follow the different seasons based on your location. You’re still welcome to choose whatever hemisphere you’d like.

There are four island layouts that you can choose from. As stated earlier, these change each time you start the game since they are generated at random. You can choose any that suits to your liking, or you can simply restart the game if you want to choose other layouts.

Notes to consider when starting off the island

Even if there are different island layouts, there are some features on every island that are being followed. Take note of the following tips:

* When you start off in the island of your choice, you’ll arrive from the Airport. This will always be at the south end of the island.

* When starting, you can’t cross rivers since you do not have a pole yet. You cannot explore other sides of rivers so keep that in mind. There will be rivers that exit towards the south end of the island.

* There is a tiny beach that you’ll be able to find on the north side of the island

* There may be docks on the west or east side of the island

* You cannot alter your beach shapes, the dock, dark rocks, river mouths, outcrops. Other terrain in the island can eventually be changed as you progress.

* You’ll be able to find fruit on the island that you can Sell.
