How do I scan QR Codes from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Happy Home Designer?

Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer were able to share Custom Designs by sharing QR Codes. Since the 3DS and Phones have cameras, they can scan QR codes to download designs.

The Nintendo Switch doesn’t have a Camera, therefore in order to scan codes, you will have to link it to your phone. In order to scan QR Codes, you will have to do the following steps.

Linking your game to your phone:

1. Download the Nintendo Switch Online app for iOS or Android.

2. Log in the Nintendo Switch Online app and link it with your Nintendo Account.

3. Open Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch. At the Title screen, press – to access settings.

4.Tom Nook will assist you with the settings. Choose “NookLink Settings”.

5. Your account will now be linked to your Nintendo Switch Online app account.

How to scan QR Codes:

1. Open the Nintendo Switch Online app and choose Animal Crossing: New Horizons

2. Choose NookLink and use the QR Scanner, you can scan designs from the supported games.

3. Open Animal Crossing: New Horizons and check your Custom Designs app.

4. Press the + Button on your switch to download the design from the QR Code.

Note: All designs downloaded cannot be edited. The designs can only be applied to basic designs and not Pro Designs. You can scan QR codes one at a time as well, so make sure that you download them first before scanning another.
