Butterfly Effect Update: Sam escapes the Psycho

There are several factors to consider here:

• Throwing the vase at the Psycho unlocks the “The Psycho Path” trophy
• Once you've reached the broiler room in the basement, if you have examined the baseball bat when you initially gone to the basement with Josh in the earlier chapter, choosing to hide then run will allow you to smash the bat to the psycho's face.
• The best “ending” to this chapter is when Sam successfully escapes the psycho. This is possible if you didn't harm the squirrel during the practice shooting with Chris in Chapter 1.

Once the Psycho shows up, throw a base at him. Next, be careful of the single QTE along the stairs. Once you've reached the broiler room, choose to run. After encountering the closed door, choose Pull. After successfully getting through the door, lock it and close the hatch. Walk towards the wooden door and open it. Move ahead and you'll have the option to Run or Hide. Choose HIDE then press the appropriate QTE button. DO NOT MOVE. After this, the chapter will be complete.

Butterfly Effect Update: Sam gets caught by the psycho

If you selected any of the other options, made noise, kept running, and got attacked by the crow in Chapter 1 (if Chris shoots the squirrel in the shooting range), the Psycho will capture Sam during the chase scene in Chapter 5.

[Chapter 7] If Sam escapes the Psycho, you'll be able to control her and explore a portion of the psycho's hideout, giving you access to the last Mystery Man clues to be found in the game. If she gets caught, she'll wake up tied in a chair but Mike lend a hand in freeing her up.
