In order to save Jessica, you have to select all the risky routes then press the correct QTE buttons until you reach the abandoned mining facility. It's okay to have a mistake but you have to really be careful when pressing the QTE buttons since they're quite fast and they appear in inconvenient parts of the screen.

Butterfly Effect: To the Rescue

Risk Shortcut: Mike will cross the river by hopping on top of broken pipes (3 QTE buttons)

Follow Path: Mike will take the longer route.

Go Around: Mike will take the longer route.

Jump Down: Mike will slide down the steep slope (1 QTE button) then follow the obstacle-laden trail (4 QTE buttons)

Jump: Mike will jump across the chasm (2 QTE buttons)

Shimmy: Mike will take his time carefully shimmying along the edge.

Follow Path: Mike will take the longer route.

Risk Slide Down: Mike will slide down a very treacherous slope (2 QTE buttons)

After the QTE galore, pick up the lamp and watch the following scene. If you still see Jessica getting dragged inside, you're still good. After entering the abandoned mining building, go downstairs. Before entering the tunnel, go to the left and find the Guidance Totem #4. Continue forward until you reach Jessica. If she opens her eyes, she's alive and you'll be able to use her in the later chapters.

After the cutscene, shoot the creature peeking from above. Next, you'll have to do a series of QTEs again. Select “Quick” then “Jump”. Once you see the hooded man, don't shoot him. While the mine door closes, watch out for one final QTE for this sequence to successfully escape the mines. Light up the lamp and watch another scene until the control switches back to Chris.

There are no immediate dangers or QTEs here yet so just follow the straightforward path until you leave the lodge. Open the double-door straight ahead to find the blood splatter on the wall. Examine it and continue outside. Follow the trail until you reach a wooden fence. Turn left instead to find another path leading to a a clue and totem.

Follow the path (Jumpscare warning!) and examine the pig head on the ground to get a clue (Mystery Man #15). Now examine the glimmer to the left to find a Death Totem #4.

Backtrack to the path and continue along the main path. Eventually, you'll reach a barn. Don't enter it yet; instead, go around to the right then continue going to the right until the camera switches view to find another totem. (Loss Totem #3) The totem is located on the ground to the left of the third screen. After picking it up, enter the barn for a scene.

During this scene, you have to choose between Josh and Ashley. The recommended option is Ashley (you'll know why later) so I strongly recommend choosing to save her. After that, cutscenes will play until you next session with Dr. Hill.
