After finding that there's no key to the cable car controls, Emily will suggest heading to the fire tower. You have the option to support or question her suggestion to go to the fire tower.

Butterfly Effect Update: Agree

If Matt agreed with Emily, in the later chapter after reaching the fire tower, they'll obtain a flare gun. Emily gives the gun to Matt. However, he will fire the flare gun. If he attempts to save Emily twice during the tower collapse, he'll die with the wendigo encounter shortly after since he doesn't have the flare gun anymore. To make sure he survives, (even if he fires the flare gun earlier) you have to attempt to save Emily once then jump off so that Matt won't encounter the Wendigo. Furthermore, if you agreed to Emily's idea, it will better off to have her keep the flare gun then Save Yourself so that she can use it to defend herself as well. However, this choice will ruin their relationship forever.

After obtaining the flare gun in the later chapter, Matt will keep the flare gun instead of firing it. If he attempts to save Emily twice in the tower collapse, he'll use the flare gun to defend himself from the wendigo attack.
