Weapons Overview

Guide Image

Weapons in the game include a variety of guns and melee weapons. Weapons range from the trusty omni-blades, to the traditional daggers, swords, and hammers. The four different types of guns in the game are pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles. New weapons can be purchased and crafted, and you can also apply mods to further enhance their stats or give them additional properties.

Gun Stats

Damage: This is the damage output that a gun can produce per shot. For shotguns with multiple smaller projectiles, the damage per individual pellet is counted.

Rate of FireDetermines how fast the gun can discharge shots. Automatic weapons such as SMGs and assault rifles have relatively high rate of fire while bulkier, more powerful weapons such as grenade launchers, shotguns, and sniper rifles have slower rate of fire.

Accuracy: Determines the reticule spread and where the shots will land. The reticule of automatic weapons tend to spread the longer you hold the fire button so controlled bursts is necessary to maintain accuracy. Single-shot weapons like sniper rifles have high accuracy since the weapon only discharges one shot per trigger in considerable intervals. .

Unique Properties: These are special functions that are only exclusive to certain weapons. For example, the Kett sniper rifle Lanat can be charged for more powerful shots. Another example is the Asari Sword that allows the wielder to perform biotic blink (teleport dash) before striking the target.

Type: The technology behind the weapon. Some examples would be identifications to its rate of fire whether it’s automatic, semi, or single shot, or whether it’s an energy weapon or ammo-based weapon.

Weight: Displays the weapon’s weight. Weight capacity has direct effect towards power recharge speed so make sure not to go over the capacity to get the most out of your Powers while also carrying a good weapon for your profile.

Augmentation Slots: Determines the number of mods you can apply to the weapon.

Materials: Materials needed to craft the weapon and the materials it will be broken down into when you deconstruct it.

Blueprint Cost: Displays the amount of RD (Research Data) needed to make the weapon available.

Gun Types

Pistols include SMGs and handguns. Handguns are popularly used as sidearms that can deal moderate damage in mid-range. While limited by its small clip capacity, these weapons are favored mainly because of their accuracy and stability.

SMGs are basically rapid-fire handguns with high-rate of fire, high magazine capacity, and good accuracy. The damage output per shot is low but can be potentially deadly due to its constant damage output. SMGs excel at short to mid-range encounters, preferably when finishing off weakened enemies or those critically damaged by Powers or Power Combos.

Shotguns in the game function the same way as ordinary shotguns: deals very high damage the closer the target is but loses its effectivity the farther the target is. They are quite deadly against armored enemies due to the bonus damage exclusively available for shotguns against this armor type. Furthermore, shotguns are considered as heavy weapons in the game, making it viable to combat specialists that can’t be encumbered with weapon weight. Since combat specialists are trained for taking in damage, they can make the most out of this weapon by getting closer to the enemies, thanks to their enhanced survivability.

Assault Rifles are reliable, well-rounded weapons. They have average weight, have high rate of fire, stable, and excels at mid-range engagements. However, they cannot sustain full automatic firing so short, controlled bursts is necessary to maintain accuracy. Their damage output is very consistent which makes them favorable to all types of specialists.

Tip: It is highly discouraged to use assault rifles in shooting enemies at long distances because of the huge dip in accuracy the farther your target is. Always consider moving closer or switching to a long-range, scoped weapon for better accuracy.

Sniper Rifles have the longest range with really high damage, even capable of penetrating covers. They’re quite demanding in terms of accuracy so using them effectively will be a challenge to some players. However, with the right profile (like the Infiltrator), they can easily take out targets through penetration and precise hits on weak points. They’re also the heaviest weapon in the game so you’ll have to manage your equipment weight limit otherwise your Powers’ recharge speed will be greatly affected.

Tip: You can still hit enemies with your Powers through the scope, allowing you to perform Power Combos on targets that won’t be normally reachable.
