Head to the lake and find the marked console to interface with it to open the vault and form a bridge. You can ride the Nomad inside. Peebee will join you as well as a third, independent squad member. Head inside the vault and before going in, you’ll be able to change your loadout. After the cutscene, you’ll be able to finally reach the bottom of the vault.

There’s remnant tech that can be scanned here. First, activate the power console on the ledge behind you. SAM will tell you about the conduit that you can trace using your scanner. Next, go through the massive vault door and approach the inactive console in the middle. There are data patterns that you can scan for research points.

Continue forth for another cutscene. Here, Peebee will split off to explore on her own for the meantime. The gravity well is blocked so ignore it for now. Take note that there’s a small room blocked by a barrier to the right. Take note of it later since you can come back for it on the way back.

Proceed forth to the large cavern with corrosive ferrofluid. The consoles here will raise blast shields that will give you cover against enemy fire. Also, avoid stepping on that liquid or you’ll quickly die. There’s also a remnant patrol on the left (east side) of the cavern so take positions and engage them. After clearing the area, you can follow the narrow path further northeast leading to a deadend with a container. Backtrack to the main path leading southeast where you can find an unlocked door with yet another container inside.

Continue following the path until you run into another group of remnants. Take them out and continue forth to find a large doorway. Don’t enter it yet; instead, continue straight south, turn right in the corner to find a container and a door with a large container inside. Backtrack to the large door and enter it.

Keep moving along the corridor and scan the remnant tech along the way. Open another door to find another gravity well with a group of remnants around it. Take cover and eliminate the remnants. Be careful since there’s also an auto-turret guarding one of the ledge. It has slow fire rate but packs a punch if it hits. There’s a console on the ledge across that generates a powerful shield. You can use that to flank the enemies and to resist the turret’s damage. Otherwise, you can just brute-force taking out the turret from cover. Once the area’s clear, use your scanner to locate the console where the conduit is connected to. Interface with that console to activate the gravity well which will take you lower in the vault.

After landing, check the platform to the north to find a Remnant Cryo Gauntlet. Head to the east to find an inactive console due to a ferrofluid leak. Scan it and Peebee will arrive shortly and forward the Frequency that will help fix the leak. Approach the console once again and interact with it to fix it. Finally, interface with it to power up the large door to the west. Head to the door and exit to find yourself in another massive cavern.

Use the remnant console near the edge of the cliff to raise some platforms that you can use to reach the central platform, the one with a large alien plant. (Don’t forget to scan it for research points) After reaching that platform, interface with the console there to create a path leading to the southwest section of the cavern. Jump to that section and shortly after, a group of remnants will attack you. Take them out and continue to the westernmost side of the section to find a large door. Open it and continue inside to find a container inside a dead end.

Backtrack then find the console a few meters east of the large door, near the edge. Interface with it to create a new path which is connected from the central platform. As you head back to the central platform, there’s a group of observers that will appear and engage you. Take them out and make your way to the central platform. From there, use the new platforms to reach the northwest section.

(Secret section: I missed this the first time around, therefore, the lack of screenshots and videos. )
There’s a console to the left that will connect you to the second platform to the northwest and an out-of-view console on the ledge to the right. The latter console will open up a path that will allow you to reach the separate “secret” section to the southeast which you can access from the central platform once again.

As you approach this secret area, there’s a group of observers that will attack you. Take them out then proceed to the puzzle console. You need to scan two glyphs in this section in order to solve the puzzle. One is found on the wall to the north while the other is directly found on the opposite wall to the south, across the first glyph. Use the solution below on the decryption platform to unlock the unique container. Make sure to scan other scannable objects here for additional research points.

Now once you’re done in this section, backtrack to the central platform and to the northwest platform. Activate the console near the corner of that section to create a platform that will allow you to the next section (with the large plant on it). As you jump on that platform, more remnant will appear so prepare to fall back to engage them from a safe distance.

Once they’re dealt with, move to the next section where another console awaits you. Interface with it to connect a forming bridge to the northwesternmost section of this cavern where the large door leading further to the vault’s heart. You’re almost finished!

Open the door to find the heart of the vault. There’s a console here that you can activate but take note that this will permanently close off the vault for good so make sure to save before doing this. When you’re ready, interact with the console to disable the system lockdown and activate the atmospheric processor. This will also restart the vault, releasing an energy surge that destroys anything it touches.

During this sequence, you have to quickly escape and follow the straightforward path. Avoid stepping over the diamond-shaped pieces on the floor as it will erupt with damaging energy. Continue until you escape the tunnel and reach a console. Interface with the console immediately.

Cross the forming bridge and continue following the navpoint. Don’t worry about your allies during this sequence since they won’t die even if the energy catches up with them. Like before, avoid the ferrofluid to avoid getting damaged and stunned for a few seconds. Continue running until you reach a large door that leads to a gravity well. Activate it immediately to reach the upper floor of the vault.

You’ll get an optional objective to loot the unsealed chest (it was previously sealed by a barrier) which will be on the western side of the gravity vault. Quickly loot it then open the large door ahead to trigger a cutscene. Sequence complete!

Completing the vault will net you a large amount of EXP, +50% Eos Viability and the ability to establish an outpost. If you have been doing some sidequests and other ops at this point, you should have enough AVP that will increase the Nexus Threshold to at least LV2 and give you one AVP Cryo Pod point.

The outpost location is Fairwinds Basin, south of the southwest monolith. If you managed to activate the forward station there, you can use it to fast-travel to the outpost grounds. Hop in the Nomad and proceed to the basin. Here you’ll find Drack fighting a group of kett. Disembark when you’re near then engage the kett. Take them all out and a cutscene will follow.

After that, follow the mission navpoint to the outpost beacon. Activate it to trigger yet another cutscene. Here you’ll get to decide whether you want a military outpost or a science outpost. Whatever you choose, another cutscene will trigger with most of the outpost block and personnel being dropped. Shortly after, you’ll get a fully functioning outpost in Eos. This outpost further boosts the planet’s viability by 10%. In addition, whenever you return to Eos, The Tempest will land in Prodromos instead. Furthermore, Peebee and Drack will join the party, giving you more squad options during your loadout.

After establishing the first outpost, check out the Research Center to gain access to the LV2 weapon blueprints. Take note that there are still LV3 Hazardous Areas that you can’t go for now so after at least completing Heleus Assignment: Shock Treatment, you can wrap things up and return to the Nexus for the meantime. There are new tasks and ops available in Eos and the Nexus. Please refer to their individual walkthrough pages for more details.

Before disembarking from The Tempest, I suggest going around and talking to your teammates. Back in the Nexus, you can check out the four merchants selling armor, arms, vehicle, and general items. Take the tram back to operations area. Before visiting Tann, you can complete the “AVP Cryo Deployment Perks” priority mission. This becomes available after establishing the first outpost in Eos. Simply talk to Addison to learn about this selection of permanent upgrade perks that will help you in your pathfinder duties. Next, talk to her assistant Brecka to get a more detailed explanation about the perk. Finally, examine the console select your for perk. You can refer to this guide’s AVP section for more details.

Once that’s done, you may visit Tann and talk to him. After the scene, this long priority mission will be finally complete.
