A Featherfolk and Purgatorium’s Secrets

To reach the Purgatorium's secret mountain entrance, go around the mountain to the northwest to find Purgatorium’s other entrance. Go up the stairs for a short scene. If you have Cyuss, Ioshua will join your party immediately but temporarily. If you have Ashlay, Ioshua won’t join immediately but you’ll have the option to recruit him as you explore Purgatorium.

Head to the upper left and pull the switch. Exit the room and enter the room to the upper right next. Once you’re in the corridor, take the hallway to the right first and enter the room.

Examine the two glowing crystals to obtain 50 SP from each. Backtrack to the corridor and enter the room north.

In this room, you’ll find several colored, bouncing balls. The blue and green orbs will teleport you to the location of other balls with the same color. Red orbs trigger enemy encounters, while the orange ball returns you to the starting point. First, let the green ball hit you to be warped to the treasure chest then loot the Froghead from it. Touch the green orb again to return to the main floor then let the blue orb hit you to reach the door north.

In the corridor, head left then down to reach the next screen. Enter the door to the left and examine the stands to get 50 SP for each of the stands there.

Leave the room and go back up to the previous screen. Enter the door north. If you didn’t recruit Cyuss or if you have Ashlay in your team, you’ll find Ioshua in this room, in trouble. Defeat his attackers and he’ll join your party temporarily. Otherwise, you’ll find nothing in this room. Once done, you can proceed through the door between the two faces.

In the next screen, you’ll be in a large room with lots of bouncing, colored balls. Touch the two green balls in the room to reach the chests on the ledges and loot the Ring of Resistance and Resurrection Elixir from them.

You have to activate switches found on the rooms on both sides of this hall in order to proceed. You need to navigate your way and avoid touching the red, blue, and orange balls for now until you reach the doors on each side of this room to reach these switches.

After activating both switches, head back to the multi-leveled room and touch the blue ball to reach the upper door. Go through it to find a savepoint in the next room. Use the savepoint then exit through the next door to find another large room with lots of bouncing balls.

One of the two blue balls that will lead you to another blue ball. Touch the green ball next to reach a chest containing a ?Mineral. Return to the lower floor. To reach the door, head back to the first floor and touch the orange ball. Touch another orange ball and when you get transported to the ledge with two orange balls, touch the one to the LEFT to get transported to the ledge by the door. Enter the next room.

In this corridor, you’ll find three doors. Check the room to the right to get 50 SP from each crystal. Enter the room to the left next examine the crystal to the right to recover your party’s HP. Finally, take the door to the north for a boss battle.

BOSS: Wolf Spirit x4

You’ll start the battle surrounded by four wolf spirits. Immediately target the enemies attacking Ioshua since you’ll need his healing Skills to keep you alive in this battle. Set your strat to protect friends and Ioshua’s strat to “whatever it takes to win”. Burn some MP performing your Special Arts while you can force Ioshua to use offensive Spells when he’s not busy healing you. Alternatively, you can take control of Ioshua so you can actively heal priority targets as needed.

After the battle, continue north for a cutscene where you’ll meet the Runes. During the scene, your party will decide to The Van Kingdom as the next destination. Once you’re outside, you’ll have the chance to recruit Ioshua permanently. Stop him once he bids farewell, and ask him to join you. Exit to the world map.
