Added:

Project Wingman’s campaign has 21 missions in total, with each mission averaging around 10-15 minutes to complete. On a good run without restarts, accidents, or grinding, you may finish the entire campaign more or less around 5 hours. Of course, accidents will happen and you may encounter challenges but don’t worry! We’ll do our best to help you.

While we’ll offer pointers and tips, ultimately, the pilot behind the plane is still you so if you’re having problems completing a mission, try a different plane or approach, or even swallow your pride and attempt the mission on a lower difficulty. In this page, we’ll discuss how to complete Mission 14: Open Season, including the recommended aircraft, strategies, and more.

Mission Overview

New Aircraft None
Initial Objective(s) Destroy all targets: Air-to-Ground, Air-to-Air
Updated Objective(s) Destroy all targets: Air-to-Ground, Air-to-Air

There’s a lot of ground targets in this mission so if you have the Chimera, equipping MLAG on its two slots will allow you to target up to 8 individual targets per volley. There will also be airships and large naval ships involved so bringing the ASM is still an outstanding SP weapon at this point.

Mission Walkthrough

As soon as the mission starts, take out the cruisers and cargo ships along the way. Next, check your radar and take out more naval targets offshore to the south. The enemy air units are composed of several F/C-16s,F/C-15s, P.28 helicopters, and a Littoria-class air battlecruiser to the southeast. Always enlarge your radar screen to keep track of their locations.

After clearing out the offshore defenses, head to the burning mainland and take out more priority targets there. There’s not much ground units so establish air superiority over the inferno below. Be prepared to evade once you hear missile warning spikes since the area’s very chaotic and it’s quite easy to overlook these warnings and get unnecessarily damaged.

After wiping out the initial wave of priority targets, new targets will be highlighted in the AO. Most of these are ground targets composed of tanks, artillery, AAs, SAMs and advanced railguns while being supported in the air by more F/C-16s and P.28s, and a second Littoria-class air battlecruiser. The Chimera’s ASM can instantly take out the Littoria. If you’re using a double MLAG loadout in the Chimera, you should still have a lot of ammo left so use those to quickly decimate the enemy forces.

There are fleeing trucks heading southeast that serve as optional targets. Destroy them if you want some extra credits. Focus on wiping out most of the ground first, especially the railguns so you can focus more easily on securing air supremacy. Continue destroying priority targets until the mission is completed.

Mercenary Difficulty

There are no changes in the mission progression/enemy composition.
