How To Uninstall, Disable, and Remove Windows Defender

Published by SuperCheats Staff on Sep 1st 2013
If you already installed a full anti virus software, you might not even realize that Windows Defender is already installed with Windows,Windows Defender is completely built into Windows, and you’re not going to actually use it.

Note: Just to be clear, we are not saying Windows Defender is useless. Some antivirus program protection is better than none, if you are running antivirus that provides anti-malware protection, there's no need to have more than one running at a time.

What to do:

  1. Click on Start and and type windows defender into the search box and hit Enter.

  3. Open up Windows Defender, go to Tools, and then click on Options.

  5. Click on Administrator on the left-hand pane, uncheck the box for Use this program, and click the Save button.

  6. Guide Image

You will then be told that the program is turned off.

If you really want to make sure that it never comes back, you can also open up the Services panel through Control Panel.
  7. Press Windows + R key to open run box, type services.msc and hit Enter.

  9. Find Windows Defender in the list and double-click on it.

  11. Change Startup type to Disabled and click Ok.
