How to Open a Folder as a New Process

Windows Explorer opens and runs all folders as a single process. You can selectively choose specific folders to run as new processes or force Windows to run all folders as separate processes.

Individual


  1. Press and hold the shift key of the folder (or its shortcut) that you want to open as a separate process.

  2. Right-click and select Open in New Process.

  1. Open Windows Explorer (or any folder) then select Organize then Choose Folder and Search Options

  2. In the Folder Options window, select View then scroll to the option that says "Launch folder in a separate process"
