Added:

Player Search System or PSS is a new feature in pokemon x/Y that will allow you to locate other players of Pokemon X or pokemon y. You can connect with nearby players or international players via the internet. Players must both activate PSS by tapping the icon on their 3DS systems. You would not need to add other players as friends or register their codes to communicate with them.

Below are some of the features of the PSS

Battle

In previous Pokemon game, you would have to go to a Pokemon Center and head for a common room before you can initiate a battle with other players. One of the basic functions of PSS is allowing players to battle each other locally or over the internet, without the need to go to a Pokemon Center in Kalos.

Trade

Trading is another basic feature of PSS which allows trainers to trade Pokemon locally or over the internet, without the need to go to a Pokemon Center in Kalos.

Wonder Trade

This is another form of trading available in PSS which will allow you to choose a Pokemon that you will put up for trade, and you woud instantly trade that Pokemon with a random Pokemon that other players also put up for trade.

Battle Spot

This PSS feature allows you use your internet connection to fight other trainers around the world. You can compete in Free Battles or Rating Battles. Free Battles can be used for everyday casual play while Rating Battles record your wins and losses and rates you based on that. Your rating will also be posted in your profile on the Pokemon Global Link. This feature also includes penalties for disconnecting, so if a player disconnects from a battle, a loss will be recorded in their profile. When playing Rating Battles, stable internet connection is recommended.

O-Power

These are special powers that will help you in your adventure. The effects of O-Powers vary. Some O-Powers temporarily boost your stats, others increase your chances in capturing Pokemon and there are even those that increase the experience points and prize money you get from winning battles.

O-Powers can also be shared. If there are trainers around you that uses an O-Power, it will be displayed in your personal PSS and you will be able to us it as well. As such, if you use an O-Power, trainers around you would also be able to use it.

Shout-outs

The shout-out function allows you to create a message that will be shared to other players nearby or over the internet. You can choose to type in your own message.

Global Trade Station

The GTS or Global Trade Station returns in pokemon x and Y. The GTS is where you can choose a Pokemon put up for trade and select what Pokemon you want in return. If a matching trainer is found anywhere, the trade will be completed. In the previous games, you can only recieve Pokemon that registered in your Pokedex. In Pokemon X and Y, you can now receive a new Pokemon that’s not yet registered or seen in your Pokedex.

Holo Caster

This feature will allow you to receive news bulletin from the Pokemon Global Link and communicate with other characters within Kalos, similar to Pokemon Black and White 2’s Xtransceiver. You can also get reports about other trainers you passed via Streetpass.
