This section is mostly for Reference, as it is meant to give you an idea of how quickly (and at higher levels how slowly) your character is likely to advance in levels because the game, and to a limited extent the character development in it, is level based, which naturally means XP based.
Obtaining XP is accomplished through quests and player actions, and manifests its application in the game through level-based item limits for the most part, and can be effected by cumulative Bonus increases that are item and structure based. It also includes premium Characters who earn improved XP and Cash - read the related sections later in the Guide for more information....
One of the interesting aspects of leveling up is that when you reach a new level the game fires off a quote at you that often pays a sort of homage to that level, though not always, and these quotes are generated by specific Characters and in their Voices, even when you are not actively using that character or have it as an accessible one at that specific moment!
The Levels break out as follows (so far):
Level | Required XP / Level Reward | Character Quote |
| 40 XP / 0 Donuts | No Quote for this Level |
| 75 XP / 1 Donut | Bart: "Wow, you put the house down where it told you to." |
| 85 XP / 1 Donut | Apu: "You have been reincarnated to the next level. Thank you, tap again." |
| 120 XP / 1 Donut | Homer: "Woo-hoo! I bet leveling up is always gonna be this easy." |
| 250 XP / 1 Donut | Barney: "It's always level 5 somewhere!" |
| 800 XP / 1 Donut | Mr. Burns: "Excellent! You should celebrate by buying Donuts with your Money." |
| 1,800 XP / 1 Donut | Chief Wiggum: "That's some fine grinding." |
| 3,200 XP / 1 Donut | Luigi: "Now that's a spicy accomplishment!" |
| 5,000 XP / 1 Donut | Lisa: "If life were a game, leveling up would be birthdays. Happy birthday!" |
| 8,000 XP / 1 Donut | Otto: "Is it me, or do these levels seem to be taking longer and longer?" |
| 12,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Krusty: "All that for two freakin' Donuts?!" |
| 15,500 XP / 1 Donut | Marge: "I take it you don't have a family or anything." |
| 18,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Skinner: "Congratulations. That was a difficult but insignificant level." |
| 22,000 XP / 1 Donut | Sea Captain: "Arr! Ye must be playing this on a long sea voyage." |
| 23,000 XP / 1 Donut | Carl and Lenny: "For he's a jolly good fellow! He's at level one-five." |
| 25,000 XP / 1 Donut | Comic Book Guy: "Worst. Level. Ever." |
| 25,500 XP / 2 Donuts | Grampa: "This game is a lot like life. It stops being fun after a while, but you gotta keep doing it." |
| 28,000 XP / 1 Donut | Moe: "Man, I'd have quit this game long ago... and I got nothing better to do." |
| 34,500 XP / 1 Donut | Groundskeeper Willie: "You're still playing? You should get a girlfriend... or a rake." |
| 36,500 XP / 1 Donut | Professor Frink: "You've played further into this game than we thought anyone would." |
| 44,500 XP / 1 Donut | Kent Brockman: "This just in, new Content has been added so you don't have to get a life." |
| 58,000 XP / 1 Donut | Nelson: "Haw-haw, you just wasted months of your life." |
| 63,000 XP / 1 Donut | Martin: "Even my Elven Mage isn't level 23! I am green with envy." |
| 99,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Dr. Hibbert: "You're suffering from video game addiction. Gain two levels and call me in the morning." |
| 105,000 XP / 1 Donut | Duffman: "Duffman has no idea why you're still playing this game. Oh yeah!" |
| 111,000 XP / 1 Donut | Edna Krabapple: "Keep it up. Playing this much of a game is SO attractive to the opposite sex." |
| 117,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Kang: "Level 27 humans win a free trip to Rigel IV for a unique dining experience." |
| 124,000 XP / 1 Donut | Rod and Todd Flanders: "Daddy says we're not allowed to stay up past level 28." |
| 131,000 XP / 1 Donut | Fat Tony: "You've been playing this game a long time now. I respect that." |
| 138,000 XP / 1 Donut | Cletus: "There ain't no number this high in hillbilly math." |
| 145,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Bumblebee Man: "Ay! Este level es loco!" |
| 153,000 XP / 1 Donut | Rich Texan: "Yeehaw! Time to take this game to the next level!" |
| 161,000 XP / 1 Donut | Dr. Nick: "Hi everybody! Great news! Playing this game so much makes your brain – how you say? Never mind, your brain could not say it anyway!" |
| 169,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Cookie Kwan: "Congratulations, you got Level Up! Don't forget to stay out of west side." |
| 177,000 XP / 2 Donuts | Gil: "Look at you, moving up! Don't forget ol' Gil! Seriously! Throw down a rope!" |
Bonus | 1 to 3 Donuts | No Quote; Reward is from "Over-Level Mini-Game" |
Note 1: The required XP for each level was obtained from the official Simpson's Tapped Out Wiki which is the most accurate source available to us...
Note 2: There is no quote for Level 1 (the transition in leveling happens so fast that the quotes for Levels 1 and 2 would happen at the same time anyway), if you pay attention to the context for each of the Level quotes you may be surprised to discover that they are, for the most part, editorial comments on subjects that range from the effort you put in to reach that point or the reward that you received for doing so...
