Welcome to The Clash of Clones Special Event Section - Woohoo!

Clash of Clones Event runs from 21 August 2014 thru 7 October 2014

Every summer the wizards behind the best mobile city-Building game out there - Tapped Out - put together a number of holiday-themed events and one major Special Event. While the holiday events are fun, and usually add new Characters and Buildings to the game, it is the major summer Special Event that most Tappers eagerly await - and the wait for The Event for Summer 2014 is now over!

The Clash of Clones Event is both the Special Event we have been waiting for - and an homage to another mobile powerhouse of a game - Clash of Clans - a city-Building PvP title whose primary focus is pitting one kingdom against another - so naturally the Tapped Out Version includes its own unique take on that Game Play focus: Springfield vs Springfield!

While it may seem to be a formal thing, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for making SuperCheats and our Unofficial Guide to The Simpson's: Tapped Out your go-to source for Tapper Strategy, Hints, Tips, Cheats, and guidance! You have no idea how much we truly appreciate our Tapper Community!

So thanks for visiting SuperCheats - and thank you for reading the Guide!

About Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans is a 2012 freemium mobile MMO Strategy video game (whew that was a mouth full!) developed and published by Supercell - the same folks who brought us Boom Beach (a massively fun combat adventure). Based out of Helsinki, Finland, Supercell's specialty is base-and-city-Building combat games, and they do that genre very well indeed!

Clash of Clans was released for the iOS platforms on 2 August, 2012 and on Android on 30 September 30, 2013 to a limited region set. It finally launched internationally on 7 October 2013 via Google Play, and the rest as they say, is History.

The game caught on in a big way, developed a huge following - and not surprisingly a significant percentage of its core audience also happens to be Tappers - but then mobile games of that quality and caliber are rare, so that makes a lot of sense!

This is the major event for Summer 2014 so get ready to sink your teeth in!

We don't have to tell you how stoked we are for this event, do we? We just hope you are as excited as we are!

Clash of Clones

Following a very large Update - and then a large patching session when the player first loads the game - as the normal bucolic view of Springfield appears on your mobile device it quickly becomes obvious that something is amiss! For one thing, there is a large barbarian warrior standing in the street!

Our local good-hearted Born-Again Christian, Ned Flanders, is the first Springfielder to encounter the barbarian warrior, and after a brief conversation in which he establishes the intentions of said warrior, offers the helpful suggestion that if he has to destroy things, and if he is dead-set on the act, perhaps a wonderful place to start would be the Simpson home?

Wow, I never would have suspected that Flanders had that sort of Machiavellian bent to his character!

It all starts with the arrival of just one Barbarian Warrior!
It all starts with the arrival of just one Barbarian Warrior!

I mean we know he does not exactly care for Homer Simpson, but it seemed like he had a concern for Marge - if not Maggie and Lisa, who he considers to be relatively innocent. That he has no use for Homer or Bart, well, that is understandable considering the grief that the pair has caused him over the past 25 years. But still - destroy the Simpson house?!

The Barbarian Character

After the dialogue is completed between the warrior and Flanders, the game then transfers control of the Barbarian Warrior to you - that is to say you then get that character added to your game FOR FREE!

Naturally the Character Collection Screen pops-up verifying that you have added the Barbarian Warrior, and that he completes the Clash of Clones Character Collection Set - giving you a reward of $250 and 5 XP (we can only presume that there are additional sets associated with this event, but time will tell).

Completing the process by collecting the reward for the Character Collection officially kicks off this Special Event, and the first Mission is flagged - Prince and The Premise Pt. 1 - and that pretty much queues the violence! Well done you!

Preparing to Play

When a Special Event is activated in the game it naturally changes the Game Play mechanics and approach for the players - if you are not used to this we offer the following hints, Tips, and guidance to help you hit the ground running for the Clash of Clones Event!

The first thing you need to do is recall all of your Characters from any ongoing missions and quests that they are actively working on. Specifically that means heading to Krustyland - which is the zone we were working before the new event launched - and complete any of the missions and quests that your characters are doing there and then DO NOT START NEW ONES.

You do not want your Characters committed to quests outside of Springfield right now, because there is no way of knowing which characters you are going to need IN Springfield for the Clash of Clones event. That being the case you are better off having them all present even if you never end up needing them.

Missions & Quests Play

Normally you would be assigning Characters to different quest both to make Money and XP - with the timers being however often you play. For a lot of players that means routinely assigning most of The Characters to a 24h Task. You need to STOP doing that now.

Until the Special Event ends, you should no longer be assigning Characters to ANY missions, quests, or tasks that are NOT related to the Event. That way they are all available - and more important, when one is required in order to Flag a Quest they are available to do so!

This is a temporary situation - it will only last as long as the Event goes on - so no worries there. Besides the point to this is to have fun and play through the Special Event, right?

We are pretty sure his name isn't Grunt Grunt Grunt so we have started calling him Arnold
We are pretty sure his name isn't Grunt Grunt Grunt so we have started calling him Arnold

Money Requirements

A lot of players are saving their Money for major purchases or to decorate the undecorated sections of their town - but with the Special Event comes the likelihood that the game will include Buildings or objects that are mission and quest related and that require regular money.

It is also likely that there will be Premium Items too - so if you have been saving up Donuts, this may be where you end up using them - or not. The important thing tho is to conserve the regular Money you have - do not spend it on Decorations - until we know for sure that you will not need it for the event.

Ideally you should have built up a bank of around 1-million dollars of reserve funds - if you have (and we have covered this before) you should be all set. If not it would be an idea, once we establish which Characters are required for the Quests for the Event, that you work all of the others in Tasks that are equal to or shorter than the ones being played out for the Event - that way when the event task or quest is completed all of your other characters are still available!

New Event Additions

New Objects, Items, Buildings and Characters are to be expected with a Special Event - and an Event of this caliber is sure to have some good ones! Check them out below:

The Items that are listed below are the items that we know about so far. It is possible - and likely - that additional items will be added to the store as the event progresses, bearing in mind that this is the major Special Event for Summer 2014, and it lasts a total of 49 Days (the event officially began on 20 August and ends on 7 October.)

That being the case - and presuming that they will be adding additional Premium Items, Objects, Buildings, Structures, Characters, and the like, you should plan accordingly!

Three types of Castle are available for placement and upgrade - Barbarian, Recycle, and Boxingham
Three types of Castle are available for placement and upgrade - Barbarian, Recycle, and Boxingham

As you can see the upgrade path here is divided, with Elixir being the form for the main castle that Homer and the Barbarian are supporting, while Donuts are used for the two extra castles that Bart and Lisa are supporting. In theory you only are required to place the objects associated with these two that the game specifically states you must to - but those are a product of the quests and not required premium purchases.

If you decide that you want to have the whole enchilada, you should plan then on spending around 100D in total for reasonable additions if you are having them connect to each other as we have done in the game we are using for the writing of this Guide.

  • Two-Story Outhouse (Cost = 3000 Elixir) - Improves Your Vanity Rating.

  • Windmill (Cost = 2000 Elixir) - Improves Your Vanity Rating.

The acquisition of extras such as the bulk of the objects above that are priced in Elixir are something of a sticky issues since there are a number of required expenses (in Elixir) in the game to progress the primary story mode missions and quests that are part of this event. That being the case, you will want to refrain from spending the Elixir you have taken in bank early on while you satisfy those requirements.

That being the case, it would be an idea to wait until towards the end of this event - say the week before the ending date - which we know is the first week of October - before you go hog wild in spending Elixir. Just saying.

While everyone is expected to download the Clash of Clones Event Content, players who made the effort to be among the first to get it, waking up very early on 20 August and getting it installed on their devices, found that when they logged into the game on 21 August they were gifted a stack of Donuts as thanks for their efforts to be among the first to play!

The following message popped up after players logged in on the 21st:

Personal Prizes

As is the demonstrated case with special events in addition to the optional buyable Prizes there are also prizes to be won by obtaining quantities of the special currency for the event - which in this case is Elixir. The prizes are awarded based on the amount of Gold that the player has accumulated.

  • 200 Gold - Barbarian Homer and Homer Barbarian Costumes.

  • 400 Gold - Castle Recycle & Archer Lisa Costume (Castle has a 24hr build timer and quest to unlock)

  • 800 Gold - Cheaters 20 Pack (5 Cheaters Awarded)

  • 1,400 Gold - Boxingham Palace & Goblin Bart (24hr build timer and unlocked with a quest)

  • 5,000 Gold - Wizard Marge Costume

  • 9,500 Gold - Elixir Bundle

  • 15,000 Gold - Hot Air Balloon

  • 22,000 Gold - Three Towers

  • 30,000 Gold - Catapult

Cheaters

Cheaters take the form of 20-sided dice that are very familiar to anyone who has ever played D&D or similar table top games that use pen, paper, and dice. Cheaters are unlocked when the player has collected 800 Gold and the related quest.

Cheaters are used to instantly destroy a Building rather than using nerds to attack it. They also allow the player to instantly repair any building under attack, and to clear their town of all enemy fighters via the Shield Icon at the top of the screen.

Cheaters can be purchased in different quantities using Donuts.

  • 9D - Single Cheater 20

  • 44D - Handful of 5 Cheaters 20s

  • 155D - Bag of 20 Cheaters 20s

Missions and Quests

As the Clash of Clones Special Event kicks off, our Barbarian Warrior Arnold flags the first in what we hope will be a long series of good and fun missions!

The Missions and Quests are guided here using the same system we have used in previous events - the primary Mission or Quest name is indexed in the quick-link menu, with all of the quests associated with it following its place on the page.

So welcome! Well met! Have fun!

The Missions are presented in the order that they appear in the game and not alphabetically...

Helpful Hint #1 - Pillaging

You are going to be encouraged both by the event and by the different narrative dialogue from Characters to have yourself a bit of active pillaging among your neighbor towns. DO NOT DO THAT. At least, do not do it like the game suggests.

There are actually some very helpful strategic points to keep in mind whenever you are contemplating pillaging and we are happy to share them here, with you, now:

The Rules for Pillaging

The following rules will help you to get the most out of your pillaging and looting efforts. These are not optional, they are mandatory rules IF you mean to profit the most in your activities, so please do take them to heart won't you?

  • Rule #1: DO NOT attack your Neighbor's Towns. That is to say, when you are setting off to pillage and loot, do NOT tap the Neighbor Icon (the icon that depicts Milhouse and Bart on the bottom right side of your play screen) and visit the Neighborhood so that you can attack the people who are on your mates list.

The reason for that is very simple - you earn a lot less in both Gold and Elixir when you attack the people on your friend list, and whose Springfield are in your Neighborhood. We don't really know why that is, but for some odd reason the wizards who created this game - and the event we are playing - decided that you would get a far better reward amount by attacking people you don't actually know.

Therefore when you set off to pillage and loot, you should do that by tapping the Pillage Icon (the crossed sword and ax) in the top-right-corner of the play screen. Tapping that icon will result in you being transported to the Springfield for a player you don't actually know.

Alternatively you can also tap the Barbarian Castle, Boxingham Palace, or Castle Recycle, whose pop-up menu will have, at the very bottom, a button labeled "Revenge" that, when pressed, will take you to the Springfield for the player who last looted and pillaged THAT castle in YOUR Springfield. The idea being you pay them back a little of what they gave you in terms of grief, right?

Basically when you attack the Springfield of a stranger - or get Revenge on the stranger who last attacked you - the reward in addition to a lot more Elixir - is a guaranteed 50 to 100 Gold (we are not sure why some pay 100 and some only 50)

    Guide Image

- - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - -

  • Rule #2: DO focus on attacking Castles - and DO NOT attack houses!

All that you need to do is do the math - you can easily see why focusing all of your attacks - when you are using Nerds to attack - on Castles is the most profitable target getting the best results, while attacking houses is the least profitable. Look at the following information to make this clear.

Note that the actual rewards for successfully attacking the castles that belong to strangers NOT on your friend list will vary in amounts based upon factors like the defensive level of the castle on an individual basis, but it is reasonable to anticipate a MINIMUM reward of 50 Gold.

    1. Neighbor Towns from your Friends/Mates List (which you should NEVER be attacking)

    - Castles (Barbarian, Boxingham and Recycled) successful attack rewards = 25 Elixir and 10 Gold

    - Houses successful attack rewards = 18 Elixir and 8 Gold

    2. Stranger Towns (reached via the attack icon top-right-corner of your play screen)

    - Castles (Barbarian, Boxingham and Recycled) successful attack rewards = 140 Elixir and 50 Gold

    - Houses successful attack rewards = 70 Elixir and 25 Gold

    3. Stranger Towns (reached via the Revenge Icon)

    - Castles (Barbarian, Boxingham and Recycled) successful attack rewards = 140 Elixir and 50 Gold

    - Houses successful attack rewards = 70 Elixir and 25 Gold

Sometimes these pay 100 Gold instead of 50 Gold but we are not sure why that is...

So as you can see, considering that the exact same effort is required no matter what, you are far better off attacking ONLY castles, and ONLY the castles that belong to strangers!

  • - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - -

    Guide Image

  • Rule #3: DO NOT forget about your regular play obligations...

What we mean by that is actually very simple - just because there is a Special Event running does not mean that you should ignore all of the usual elements that you should be trying to do. In particular that means visiting all of the Neighbors on your Friends/Mates list and doing your three FP-earning actions each day so you are still working towards unlocking the various FP related Prizes.

You should also make it a point to be visiting Krustyland each day and doing your collecting of Tickets and such there, as well as any quests that you CAN do that do not interfere with the event. What that means is being sure NOT to use Characters that are required for event missions and quests.

You should be able to get a sense of which Characters are actually needed by the event by checking the mission and quest list in this section - if the character is not specifically listed as part of the missions or quests for the part you are actively at in the event, you should be able to use them in Krustyland for Ticket-earning tasks without that causing any event-related issues. So be sure you do!

  • - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - - - ( @ ) - - - -

  • Rule #4: DO Log in more often than normal.

When a Special Event like Clash of Clones is running, what with the risk of your town being attacked, you should be logging in at least once every 2 to 3 hours in order to check to see if you need to defend any Buildings. The shortest timer that your enemy will have should be 4 hours, so as long as you are logging in at least once every 2 to 3 hours you should not be in a position to lose any buildings for lack of defense.

Plus when you do succeed in defending a Building the reward is generally better. Just saying.

Following these simple rules will always provide for you the maximum results for the minimum effort, and we can all agree that that is just the sort of thing we like to experience, and another great reason why you should share this Guide with your mates.

A man's home is his Castle - and in the case of Arnold the Barbarian a Barbarian's Castle is his CASTLE!

Prince and The Premise Pt. 2

After Arnold attacks and pillages the Simpson house, Homer quickly engages the Barbarian in conversation, pointing out his rather short-sighted approach to the matter of pillage and destruction (and gets Arnold to halt his destruction and pillaging of his house) by giving a verbal flowchart of why the whole pillaging thing is not going to work well.

Then Homer convinced Arnold that what he REALLY needs is a Castle! Now the logic of this is easy to see - if Arnold is Building a Castle, he can't be destroying and pillaging the house at 742 Evergreen Terrace, right? Right! So Arnold the Barbarian decides that a Castle sounds like a really great idea!

Build the Barbarian Castle ($1000 and a 16h build timer)

The benefits of Castle ownership include:

    • Sending your nerds to raid other players and earn Elixir!

    • Using Elixir to upgrade Castles for more nerds and better defenses.

    • Storing the Gold you accumulate for buying awesome Prizes!

With your Castle now built Arnold can start acquiring Nerds - and he needs those Nerds so that he can send them off to attack other Springfields! In fact that is the focus for this quest: Attacking other Springfields!

When you tap the go button for this quest the game creates a new button in the top-right-corner of the screen that allows you to randomly attack some Springfield. Let us make this clear - you can go visit a Neighbor via the usual way and attack THEM by assigning Nerds to a Building there OR you simply hit the Random Attack Springfield button that this quest adds and it will take you to some Springfield belonging to some Tapper you don't know so you can attack THEIR Springfield!

In addition to being able to attack a stranger, you actually get MORE Elixir as your prize when attacking strangers rather than the Tappers you know and who are your Neighbors. As odd as that sounds, you should take advantage of it! More is better! More Elixir is even better better!

    The Attack

After you arrive in the random Springfield you can then attack a residence or that Springfield's Castle - note tho that if the Castle is already under attack you cannot do so too but you do get more rewards for attacking a Castle rather than just a house.

The reward for attacking a Castle 140 Elixir and 50 Gold - if you are attacking a house it is 70 Elixir and 25 Gold.

For each Neighbor (or Stranger) you are limited to attacking 5 Buildings in their town.

How long the attack will take depends on how many Nerds you assign to the attack. How many Nerds you can commit to an attack depends upon the type of Building you are attacking...

    CASTLE ATTACKS

    • 1 Nerd = 12h

    • 2 Nerds = 10h

    • 3 Nerds = 9h

    • 4 Nerds = 8h

    • 5 Nerds = 7h

    • 07 Nerds = 4h

    • 08 Nerds = 3h

    • 09 Nerds = 2h

    • 10 Nerds = 1h

I always try to be sure that I choose my attacks in the following order, so if the Building is available to be attacked it gets attacks - in this valued order:

    • Barbarian Castle (Reward = 140 Elixir and 50 Gold)

    • Flander's House (Reward = 70 Elixir and 25 Gold) Ned originally set the Barbarian on us so.

Helpful Hint #2 - Castle Upgrades

You might be thinking - unless it is required by a Mission or Quest, what is the point of upgrading these Castles except maybe the first one, since it is made of stone? Well the thing is, upgrading the castles actually has some real and desirable side-effects!

    The Source of Gold is...

Pillaging! And pillaging is made possible by the army of Nerds who willingly lay down their Nerd-lives for the honor of the Prince (Goblin Bart), Princess (Archer Lisa), and King (Homer the Barbarian) of the Barbarians who direct them to journey to the foreign towns and lay siege to the castles (and other Buildings) there!

    Pillaging Tactics

There are two basic approaches to Pillaging, each with different results but both of which rely primarily upon luck. The first Strategy is to attack ONLY castles, and to use the maximum number of Nerds you can use, based upon the level of defenses for the target.

    Guide Image

This will have the effect of allowing your Nerds to conquer and pillage castles roughly every four hours - assuming that the owner of said castle(s) does not log in to their game, see that you are attacking, and actively defend their castle(s) in which case you get a much smaller reward.

Basically the same applies to any OTHER Buildings you attack. Like we said, there is a luck element involved here.

The second Strategy is to use only ONE (1) Nerd per target, target five Buildings in each town (and preferably three of the targets are castles) and then hope that the player whose town you are attacking does not log in that day, since this tactic requires anywhere from 13 to 19 hours to work.

Again there is the element of luck - but if you ARE lucky Strategy two can result in MASSIVE rewards. There is a reason you see some of your Neighbors with Gold Balances of 50K plus Gold even this early in the event, and that reason is the second strategy (and good luck).

Logically the more Nerds you can throw into the pillage process, the better the results in terms of Gold and Elixir, right?

While technically not an upgrade, having your own bootleg Elixir Still does add a measure of freedom to the whole Elixir Addiction thing...
While technically not an upgrade, having your own bootleg Elixir Still does add a measure of freedom to the whole Elixir Addiction thing...

    Castle Upgrades

When the event begins you have a base maximum Nerd Army size of 40 Nerds. That is what you get no matter what you do (or don't do) in the game.

Your Nerd Army is re-supplied each time that the timer runs out on your Castles - that is Castles plural, not singular as each of the three Castles has a timer and after each timer runs out you get a supply of Nerds that are based upon the level of the individual castle.

No matter what the supply - or re-supply if we are being technical - amount is, you can only receive new Nerds up to the maximum number in your Nerd Cap - which as we said by default is 40 Nerds. As you upgrade your Castles however that cap is raised. The following data applies specifically to that part of the equation:

We can only use our own Castles as Guide but here is what we notice - our current Nerd Army Cap is 85 Nerds. That is with our Castles ALL at Level 14. We are trying to raise the level of each castle evenly - meaning get each to Level 13, then each to 14, and so on, since that makes the most sense in terms of the amount of Elixir we would have to spend - bearing in mind that we are NOT paying for Elixir, but rather we are using what we acquire from Pillaging and defending our own town plus Tasks.

In practice therefore each castle can at maximum level increase the Nerds Cap by 30 nerds. That gives you a total of 130 Nerds in your Nerd Army.

While the first Strategy works rather well when you only have 40 to 60 Nerds available, the second strategy relies upon numbers for its success, and if you have an army of 130 Nerds those numbers are in your favor. But WAIT! You are not actually limited to 130 Nerds for your Army mind you, you are limited to a cap of 130 Nerds at any ONE TIME.

Why is that significant? Well it is significant because each time the timer on your castles ticks over you get to collect more Nerds. The Castle Timer is set at two (2) hours - so in theory if you are diligent about logging in and collecting your Nerds every 2 hours and committing them to pillaging you can have 260 or more Nerds in play at any one time AND that does not take into consideration the once-a-day re-supply of Nerds that the game gives you that can take your available army to Cap!

Clearly then, upgrading your Castles is in your best interest - and is the secret behind the success of all of your Neighbors who have 50K plus Gold in their gold bank!

    Pointless-Yet-Compulsive

Once you hit the 5,000 Gold mark the Wizard Marge Costume is unlocked and awarded from the Personal Prizes Selection, and added to your personal storage in-game. The costume itself is associated with the quest "The Power of Upgrades Pt. 1" and cannot actually be used in the game until that quest has been flagged, which requires you to complete other pre-requisite quests - including this one.

This Mission was originally called "Shock to Your System" and didn't require the character upgrades. It was adjusted on 27 August to be the current "Pointless-Yet-Compulsive" Mission by the August Update.

Bear in mind that this is the continuation of the primary story-mode for this Special Event.

Wizard Marge has been unlocked and added to your storage, which results in flagging of this quest - but until you have completed other pre-requisite quests you lack access to the Wizard Marge Costume. So it would be an idea to aggressively pursue the other quests, right?

For this one though there are some things you can do, starting with collecting lots of Gold! Well that and upgrading Lisa's character and costume as available.

    1. Collect 9500 Gold

    2. Upgrade Archer Lisa to Level 8 (requires Gold)

    3. Upgrade Wizard Marge to Level 4 (requires Gold)

    Pointless-Yet-Compulsive Pt. 2

The next stage in this continuation of The Story mode mission is simply an increase in the requirements for gold and the character upgrades. Please remember that the issue of Gold banking is NOT a question of spending X amount of gold and thus needing to constantly replace it but rather it is a target level of gold obtained via looting and pillaging that then allows you to purchase the like levels on each character on a more coupon-like level rather than you know, actually spending gold, which you are not.

You will recall that in the previous part (Part 1) we were upgrading Lisa and Marge's Clash of Clones Characters, and this time around we have changed to upgrading Bart and Homer's...

    1. Collect 15,000 Gold.

    2. Upgrade Barbarian Homer to Level 14.

    3. Upgrade Goblin Bart to Level 8.

This quest also awards you with 100 Elixir and 10 XP and a Hot Air Balloon. A nice Hot Air Balloon mind you...

    Pointless-Yet-Compulsive Pt. 3

The name of this mission should give you an idea of its relative position in the grand scheme of things in terms of the Event... That said, it is still an active part of the event, and unless you really don't care one way or the other about the gold-based Prizes that are a focal point for this event, you will need to keep your daily play and pillaging up to get this done within the timer.

    1. Collect 22,000 Gold.

    2. Upgrade Barbarian Homer to Level 19.

    3. Upgrade Archer Lisa to Level 13.

This quest also awards you with 100 Elixir and 10 XP plus the Three Towers.*

    * That presumes you - like us - did not go ahead and buy some Towers in order to complete your outer walls - though how big a difference that makes in the defense of the realm is anybody's guess and a fair subject for speculation!

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    Pointless-Yet-Compulsive Pt. 4

The second from last phase in the mission sees us working towards the 30K Gold required to unlock the Catapult - though to be honest here, it would seem that unlocking a Catapult would have made a LOT more sense earlier in the missions and quest that is The Clash of Clones, right?

Either way, our immediate goals are to collect 30K Gold from Pillaging, and then use the Gold so acquired to raise the Upgrade Levels for Goblin Bart and Wizard Marge. Once we accomplish THAT, the final stage is the light at the end of the tunnel, which in this case is a light that illuminates Banners and a Statue. Very illuminating!

    1. Collect 30,000 Gold.

    2. Upgrade Goblin Bart to Level 12.

    3. Upgrade Wizard Marge to Level 9.

This quest also awards you with 100 Elixir and 10 XP plus a Catapult.

    Pointless-Yet-Compulsive Pt. 5

Amazingly the combination of the two strategies for pillaging very quickly brings us to the final level of this mission, having managed to acquire far more gold in far shorter a time than seems reasonable! That being so, the final set of requirements are still somewhat daunting:

    1. Collect 38,000 Gold.

    2. Upgrade Goblin Bart to Level 15.

    3. Upgrade Archer Lisa to Level 19.

This quest also awards you with 100 Elixir and 10 XP plus a Catapult.

Using stand-in objects to mark where things like walls may go will help you to determine just how much space you actually will need, so that is a brilliant tactic indeed!

    Helpful Hint #3: Gold Banking

The issues surrounding the pillaged gold in the game have, it turns out, been something of a confusing issue for a lot of players, largely due to the misleading notion that the gold is (a) spendable currency, and (b) actually gets spent for upgrades.

Basically what it is (and we are not being sarcastic here) is a Target Level - that is to say, for instance, when you go to upgrade a character under one of the three Castle Menus - you will see that the next upgrade requires X amount of Gold. We checked our game and these are the current target levels for the applicable Characters at the current moment:

    • Archer Lisa - Level 10 - Next Level Requirement = 9,600 Gold.

    • Barbarian Homer - Level 10 - Next Level Requirement = 9,600 Gold.

    • Goblin Bart - Level 6 - Next Level Requirement = 10,850 Gold.

    • Wizard Marge - Level 4 - Next Level Requirement = 12,000 Gold.

As you can see they have very different requirements that are largely dictated by what position it was that they became active in the event in terms of this process. The thing is the list above is a bit misleading in that it is not saying that you must SPEND 9,600 Gold in order to upgrade Lisa to the next level, it is saying that your Gold Total (that being the total amount of Gold you have collected PERIOD as part of the game event) must equal or exceed the 9,600 amount.

When you actually tap the upgrade button under the Castle menu it does not deduct that amount to do the upgrade, it is either available or not available per the total you have collected in gold.

The same is NOT true though about upgrading the Castles themselves - as those actually DO require the amount of Elixir that is indicated in the menu, when you tap on each respective castle.

That being so, you will want to take care not to spend your Elixir on Items that are outside of the mission and quest requirements until AFTER you have satisfied all of them - which is to say it would be an idea, as we have previously pointed out, to refrain from voluntary expenses on decoration items until it is no longer an issue. The first of October being a likely target date for that.

Generally when a special event ends the resources for the event are removed from your account - so there is no trading them.

For future reference when an event is nearing the end - as will be the case with the Halloween Event next month - ALWAYS spend any Event currency BEFORE the event ends!

    OK mea culpa!

It turns out that if you are attacking with ONE Nerd per house, and you are lucky enough to hit a random player who does not play every day, you can score some pretty spectacular gold that way. Well actually it takes a lot of players who do not play every day, but you get the idea.

I am going to try switching to that tactic and see whether it works better than just targeting castles. I will let ya all know.

I have people in my friendslist which have +50.000 gold.
I even have some people which have +100.000 gold.

I have +- 25.000 gold at the moment.
How the hell can they achieve that amount of gold?
I play by the rules above: attack castles with a 4h defend time.
I even attack only 1 castle per unknown springfield, so if they intercept my attack, I only lose 1 attack, instead of 3 attacks. It takes more time to deploy my nerds, but chances of losing them are smaller.

And still I only have 25.000 gold, while a large number of my friends have +- 50.000 and like 10 of my friends have +100.000 gold.. insane.. how?

The easiest way to get your gold to increase is to play more often each day so you are collecting nerds and then using them to attack whenever you get enough in total to make that worth doing.

The trick to getting a lot more gold and Elixir is simple - DO NOT ATTACK HOUSES.

Only attack castles. The houses pay a tiny amount in reward - Each Castle you defeat pays out 50 Gold, plus 140 Elixir. Each HOUSE you attack successfully pays out 25 Gold and 75 Elixir. When the attack is rebuffed you get much less.

So to increase your take you want to ONLY attack castles, and spread your attacks out to different towns. Try to stage them in the middle of the night/morning when the other player is not likely to log in to stop you from winning.

When each costume is actually released does not relate to the level of the Castle mate, it is how much GOLD you have collected that triggers first the release of the costumes - which land in your storage.

Once you actually HAVE the costumes in storage, then you have to complete whatever the pre-req quests or missions are in order to actually unlock them.
