Supporting Characters Overview:

Within Pokken Tournament are Thirty Supporting Pokemon Characters. Each of them are within a pair with another Supporting Character, making fifteen pairs in total. Unlike the numerous Playable Characters you have access to at the beginning of the game, only three Supporting Character Pairs are unlocked at the start. It is up to you to unlock the other twelve pairs, or twenty-four Pokemon, during Single Player Mode in the various Leagues.

The three pairs you begin with are Emolga & Fennekin, Snivy & Lapras, and Frogadier & Eevee. The teams you must unlock are Cubone & Diglett, Jirachi & Whimsicott, Croagunk & Sylveon, Pachirisu & Magikarp, Mismagius & Ninetales, Rotom & Togekiss, Farfetch'd & Electrode, Dragonite & Victini, Espeon & Umbreon, Reshiram & Cresselia, Magneton & Quagsire, and Yveltal & Latios.

When a match begins, a player can select one pair of Support Characters, and before the round begins the player can select between the two Pokemon to bring into battle with them. The Support Pokemon can then be activated in the match by clicking the L Button. And after the Support Pokemon is used, they will once again need to charge before being used once more.

In Multiplayer Mode, Single Battle, and Training Modes, you can select any of the Supporting Character Sets. In the Ferrum League, however, you only have the choice between three different pairs. Yet this can be changed in the My Town feature of the game, under Pokemon Settings at any time you please.

Unlike the Playable Characters, these Pokemon only have the use of one move each and don't have any Base Hit Points. However, each Pokemon does have a specific Support Style they bring to the table, either Attack, Disrupt, and Enhance.

Pokemon with the Attack Supporting Ability causes damage with the move they have; Pokemon with the Disrupt Supporting Ability place certain effects on the other Pokemon, whether with restrictions on their Moves or their Synergy Gauge; and Pokemon with the Enhance Supporting Ability boosts your Playable Character and their capabilities, whether their Stats, Moves, or Synergy Guage.
