Appendix B: Cross-Game Compatibility

One of the more obvious questions asked by players pertains to the cross-game compatibility for Pokemon Black 2 / White 2, and you will be relieved to learn that it has the same basic compatibility that Black and White enjoyed, as well as being fully compatible with Black & White as well!

– Pokemon Black & White –
Access for trades from the first Black and White games requires that the player have obtained the first Pokemon Gym Badge in their game, and succeeded in receiving their C-Gear.  Once those two conditions are met the standard trading system is enabled at Pokemon Centers, allowing direct trading between Black 2 / White 2 and Black / White, though some limitation do apply, including (but not necessarily limited to) the following:

* Battle Subway
The Battle Subway system in Black 2 and White 2 is identical to that of Black and White, which means that interaction between the new and old games is identical to interaction between the originals.

* C-Gear InfaRed Link
The new games support all of the previously established protocols and functions for C-Gear including Friend Code exchange and Feeling Check.  Included in the fully supported features is the Pass-By effect, including messaging and support powers.

* Entralink
Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 do not have the EntraLink functions that Black & White have due to the fact that the have their own Funfest Missions.

* Pokemon New Form Limitations
During battles between the original Black/White and Black 2 / White 2 pokemon with new forms appear as their standard form in Black & White, retaining any stats or abilities from the new form, however in order to trade the pokemon over to Black or White from the new game the new form must be reverted to the original form.

* Xtransceiver
Full support for cross-game use of the Xtranceiver has been included in the game, so that gamers on Black & White can video chat via the DSi and 3DS systems with users on Black 2 and White 2.

* Generation IV Trading
This is the key matter of concern for most gamers – whether or not Pokemon from the Generation IV games can be traded into Black 2 and White 2 – and the good news is that they can!  Once the player has completed the story mode and entered the Hall of Fame the PokeTransfer system that is located in the building on Route 15 becomes available just as it did in the original Black & White, providing trainers with the opportunity to complete their Pokedex as well as add Gen IV and outer-region pokemon to their game.  As with the previous games in the series the player will need to play the mini-game in which they use the ball-launching crossbow to capture the pokemon being transferred.

You can obtain Cresselia by getting the Lunar Wing in the Strange House. Once you've obtained the Lunar Wing, go to Marvelous Bridge and the legendary Pokemon will appear about halfway down the bridge.
