The Forced Tutorial, Part I: Levels 1 to 4

Following the game prompts the first action that you will need to take is to open the tools menu and select the Simpson House, placing it on the spot that is highlighted for you.  Once that is placed a very short build timer runs out and then the house drops into place, revealing a new character for your crew, your daughter Lisa!

Considering that she is the smartest member of the family, having her added early is a good thing - and you gain 25XP for the doing of it!  After you accept her you see the Collection Screen for The Simpsons -- elsewhere in the guide that is explained, but the short of it is you want to try to collect all of the characters in each collection both to expand game play options and for the extra rewards.  Building the house and gaining the character of Lisa completes the first quest, awarding you $100 and 10XP, as well as gains you your first Level-Up.

The next quest is flagged -- Springfield Cleaners Part 1 -- and the tutorial prompts you to have Homer start cleaning up the toxic waste.  Clearing up a pile of waste completes the quest and earns you a reward of $100 and 10 XP in addition to the Task Reward that Homer earned.  You then flag the quest -- Springfield Cleaners Part 2 -- in which Lisa offers to help with the cleanup.  As part of the Task Reward for her cleaning you receive one Donut -- that is actually a rare Task Reward but it does randomly happen.

Special Events are solidly integrated into the Tutorial Sections

About Donuts:  You want to hold on to them and NOT spend them, because there are infrastructure items that your Donuts are much better spent on, so unless you absolutely cannot avoid it, do not spend your Donuts!

The New Evergreen Terrace Part 1 is the next phase of the active tutorial, and the game shows you how to place a road and then extend it.  When you complete that task you are rewarded with $100 and 10 XP, and you are prompted to build a Kwix-E-Mart.  The game shows you where that is to be placed -- but do not worry about how close it is to your house, as later when you have more land available you will relocate it as part of another quest anyway, and you will want to move it later to a more sensible location besides.

After the foundation is placed, Lisa suggests that you use the Donut she found to speed up the construction phase of the Kwik-E-Mart -- you do NOT actually have to do that, there is a timer on the screen that reads 3h59m and you can choose to allow it to run out, coming back to the game after four hours have passed, and thus saving the two Donuts it would have had you spend.

It may seem like an exaggeration, but every Donut really does count here, but it is your call: wait for 4 hours, or spend 2 Donuts now and keep playing.  Either way when you have placed the Kwik-E-Mart, so head to the next section as that completes this one.
